Shape memory material with improved mechanical properties
A composition includes an epoxy-based curable adhesive having at least one an epoxy resin modified acrylonitrile-butadiene copolymer and at least one thermoplastic elastomer. The at least one thermoplastic elastomer is present in the curable adhesive as a penetrating polymer network. Further, an expandable article is composed of the composition, a reinforcing element includes a support and an expandable article, a method for reinforces cavities of structural components, and the composition is used as a shape memory material.

A method of preparing functionalized elastomers, including epoxy ring-opening an epoxidized elastomer with a C.sub.1-C.sub.32 hydrocarbyl-substituted thiol to provide a functionalized elastomer comprising an epoxy functional group, a hydroxy functional group, and a C.sub.1-C.sub.32 hydrocarbyl-substituted thio functional group. The hydroxy functional group and the C.sub.1-C.sub.32 hydrocarbyl-substituted thio functional group are vicinal functional groups.

A method of preparing functionalized elastomers, including epoxy ring-opening an epoxidized elastomer with a C.sub.1-C.sub.32 hydrocarbyl-substituted thiol to provide a functionalized elastomer comprising an epoxy functional group, a hydroxy functional group, and a C.sub.1-C.sub.32 hydrocarbyl-substituted thio functional group. The hydroxy functional group and the C.sub.1-C.sub.32 hydrocarbyl-substituted thio functional group are vicinal functional groups.
Polyether-modified polybutadienes and processes for preparation thereof
A process can be used for preparing polyether-modified polybutadienes. The process involves reacting at least one polybutadiene (A) with at least one epoxidizing reagent (B) to give at least one epoxy-functional polybutadiene (C). The at least one epoxy-functional polybutadiene (C) is then reacted with at least one hydroxy-functional compound (D) to give at least one hydroxy-functional polybutadiene (E). The at least one hydroxy-functional polybutadiene (E) is finally reacted with at least one epoxy-functional compound (F) to give at least one polyether-modified polybutadiene (G).

A process can be used for preparing polyether-modified polybutadienes. The process involves reacting at least one polybutadiene (A) with at least one epoxidizing reagent (B) to give at least one epoxy-functional polybutadiene (C). The at least one epoxy-functional polybutadiene (C) is then reacted with at least one hydroxy-functional compound (D) to give at least one hydroxy-functional polybutadiene (E). The at least one hydroxy-functional polybutadiene (E) is finally reacted with at least one epoxy-functional compound (F) to give at least one polyether-modified polybutadiene (G).
