Macromolecular compositions for binding small molecules
The present invention relates to a method for preparing a macromolecular composition comprising phenylglyoxaldehyde-derivatives. The invention also relates to the macromolecular compositions per se, and to methods of using the macromolecular compositions. The macromolecular compositions are useful for undergoing subsequent reactions with small molecules, for instance to remove such small molecules from a solution.

Production method for polar olefin polymer and copolymer
An object of the present invention is to provide a novel method of producing a nonpolar olefin polymer (e.g., a copolymer of a nonpolar olefin and a polar olefin). The present invention provides a method of producing a polar olefin polymer or copolymer, the method including the polymerization step of polymerizing a polar olefin monomer using, as a catalyst, a polymerization catalyst composition containing: 1) a metallocene complex represented by Formula (I), which contains a central metal M that is scandium (Sc) or yttrium (Y), a ligand Cp* containing a cyclopentadienyl derivative and being bound to the central metal, monoanionic ligands Q.sup.1 and Q.sup.2, and W neutral Lewis bases L wherein W is an integer of 0 to 3; and 2) an ionic compound composed of a non-coordinating anion and a cation. ##STR00001## ##STR00002##
Iodo-functionalized polymers as mass spectrometry calibrants with a mass-defect offset
The present invention discloses novel calibrants containing between 1 and 5 iodine atoms and methods of making them using linear polymers, hyperbranched polymers, and biological polymers (including but not limited to proteins and peptides.) Methods of using the calibrants are also disclosed, such as mass spectrometry. The novel calibrants disclosed herein have a more cost- and time-efficient synthesis than other calibrants.

FUNCTIONALIZED HIGHLY SYNDIOTACTIC POLYSTYRENE AND PREPARATION METHOD THEREOF
Compared to the prior art, this invention provides a functionalized highly syndiotactic polystyrene, comprising a repeating unit having a structure represented by formula (I), or comprising a repeating unit having a structure represented by formula (I) and a repeating unit having a structure represented by formula (II). It is indicated by the experimental results that the syndiotacticity selectivity of the highly syndiotactic polymer provided by this invention is no less than 90%, and the proportion of the repeating unit having a structure represented by formula (I) in the polymer may be arbitrarily adjusted and may be up to 100%. Meanwhile, the oxygen- or sulfur-containing groups in the polymer may increase the polarity of the highly syndiotactic polystyrene so as to increase the blendability of the highly syndiotactic polystyrene with other polymers.

POLYMER MATERIAL, COMPOSITION, AND METHOD OF MANUFACTURING SEMICONDUCTOR DEVICE
According to one embodiment, a polymer material is disclosed. The polymer material contains a polymer. The polymer contains a first monomer unit having a lone pair and an aromatic ring at a side chain, and a second monomer unit including a crosslinking group at a terminal of the side chain, with its molar ratio of 0.5 mol % to 10 mol % to all monomer units in the polymer. The polymer material can be used for manufacturing a composite film as a mask pattern for processing a target film on a substrate. The composite film can be formed by a process including, forming an organic film on the target film with the polymer material, patterning the organic film, and forming the composite film by impregnating a metal compound into the patterned organic film.
