A COATING COMPOSITION
The invention relates to a coating composition, the coating composition comprising: a first polyester material; a second polyester material different from the first polyester material, wherein the second polyester material comprises the reaction product of a reaction mixture comprising: a polyacid; a polyol; and a phosphorous acid; and (c) an acid-functional acrylic material, wherein the coating composition comprises at least 5 wt % of the acid-functional acrylic material based on the total solid weight of the coating composition. The invention extends to a method of coating a beverage can for carbonated drinks to reduce or prevent insufficient venting of the beverage can, wherein the method comprises applying said coating composition to at least a portion of an internal surface of the can end over at least a portion of the score line.
POLYAMIDE COMPOSITION COMPRISING A FLAME RETARDANT POLYESTER AND METHOD FOR PREPARING IT
The invention relates to a thermoplastic polymer composition, in particular to a polyamide composition, having improved flame-retardant properties by maintaining its good physical properties. Furthermore, the invention relates to a method of preparing said thermoplastic polymer composition and to shaped articles, in particular fibers, made of the thermoplastic polymer composition of the invention and that have excellent properties in order to ensure adequate fire protection.
Coating Composition Comprising a Binder Formed from Polyester and a Phosphorus Acid
Coating composition comprising a binder formed from polyester and a phosphorus acid A coating composition comprising a binder, the binder comprising a polyester material, wherein the polyester material comprises the reaction product of; (a) a polyacid, (b) a polyol and (c) a phosphorous acid, wherein the polyester material has a weight-average molecular weight (Mn) from about 1,000 Da to 25,000 Da and the polydispersity index (Mw/Mn) of the polyester material is from about to 10and characterised in that the polyester material is present in said binder composition in amounts of more than about 10 weight percent (wt %). The coating composition is useful for coating food and/or beverage containers.
Compositions and methods for promoting bone regeneration
This invention relates to compositions and methods for promoting and/or accelerating bone regeneration, repair, and/or healing and, in particular, to compositions and methods of promoting bone regeneration, growth, repair, and/or healing using graft or scaffold materials. In exemplary embodiments, the disclosed compositions may be used to promote and/or accelerate bone regeneration by delivering a composition to a bone site, the composition comprising (a) a citrate component, (b) a phosphate component, and, optionally, (c) a particulate inorganic material. The citrate component and/or phosphate component is advantageously released from the composition at the bone site. The released citrate component may function to increase alkaline phosphatase activity and/or expression at the bone site, and the increased alkaline phosphatase activity and/or expression may release the phosphate component. The composition may be delivered in various forms, e.g., as a biodegradable scaffold.
Ovenware and liquid crystalline polyester resin composition for molding ovenware
An ovenware is a molded article of a resin composition containing a liquid crystalline polyester resin, an inorganic filler, and a fatty acid compound, in which, when the ovenware is heated at 250 C., a total generated concentration of notional and decanal derived from the fatty acid compound is 1 vol ppb or less.
Polyester modification method
The subject invention provides a means for modifying existing polyester polymers to optimize characteristics for solid state polymerization and for utilization in a wide array of specific applications. For instance, the modification technique of this invention may be used to adjust the melting point, crystallization temperature (either from the solid or on cooling from the melt), glass transition temperature, natural stretch ratio, barrier properties, melt strength, and/or solid state polymerization characteristic of the polyester. Application of the instant invention could result in a polymer with substantially different physical properties, potentially allowing its use in heretofore high cost, specialty applications. A further advantage of the invention is that recycled polymer may be modified to broaden its potential uses into more demanding higher performance applications.
USE OF A COATING COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF COATING A CAN
Use of a coating composition in the reduction or prevention of insufficient venting of a beverage can, the beverage can comprising a can body and a can end having a score line on said can end, wherein the coating composition comprises a polyester material, wherein the coating composition is applied to at least the internal surface of the can end over at least a portion of the score line, and wherein a cured film formed from the coating composition has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 50 C. A method of coating a can comprising a can body and a can end having a score line on said can end, wherein the method comprises applying a coating composition to at least a portion of an internal surface of the can end over at least a portion of the score line, the coating composition comprising a polyester material; and curing the coating composition to form a cured film, wherein the cured film has a glass transition temperature (Tg) of at least 50 C., wherein the can, when filled with a carbonated beverage and sealed, exhibits sufficient venting upon rupture of the score line.
USE OF A COATING COMPOSITION AND METHOD OF COATING A CAN
