Provided is a fiber for rubber reinforcement that can be produced using a bio-derived raw material and hardly breaks even when compounded with a rubber material. A first fiber for rubber reinforcement uses a protein fiber containing a hydrophobic protein. A second fiber for rubber reinforcement uses a protein fiber having an initial tensile modulus of elasticity of 2.0 GPa or more when wet. These fibers for rubber reinforcement preferably have a coating layer made of a water-based adhesive composition on the surface thereof.

THERMOSETTING RESIN COMPOSITION AND PREPREG, LAMINATE AND PRINTED CIRCUIT BOARD USING SAME
20230045848 · 2023-02-16 ·

Provided are a thermosetting resin composition and a prepreg, laminate and printed circuit board using same. The thermosetting resin composition comprises a resin component, the resin component comprising a modified cyclic olefin copolymer having a structure as shown in formula I and another unsaturated resin. By introducing a methacrylate end group having a certain polarity into a cyclic olefin copolymer, a modified cyclic olefin copolymer is formed. The modified cyclic olefin copolymer can form a thermosetting material by means of cross-linking with itself or another unsaturated resin, whereby the bonding property can be significantly improved while retaining the excellent dielectric properties of the cyclic olefin copolymer itself. The laminate prepared using the thermosetting resin composition has good dielectric properties, a good peel strength and a good heat resistance, and can meet all the performance requirements for printed circuit board substrates in the current high-frequency and high-speed communication field.

METHOD FOR PRODUCING BROMINATED AND HALOHYDRATED POLYMERS

Conjugated diene polymers such as a styrene-butadiene copolymer are sequentially brominated by reaction with a quaternary ammonium tribromide or quaternary phosphonium tribromide and halohydrated by reaction with an N-haloimide compound. This produces a brominated and halohydrated polymer with very good thermal stability. The product is useful as a flame retardant in a variety of polymer systems.

Such rubber compositions include a diene rubber component and a solid agglomerated material comprising disaggregated carbon nanotubes that consist of a continuous network of carbon nanotubes that contains 1) voids and 2) aggregates of carbon nanotubes having a mean size d.sub.50 of less than 5 μm, the voids and the aggregates together in an amount that is less than 60% of a predetermined surface area, as determined by electron microscopy imagery analysis, the remainder being the disaggregated carbon nanotubes in the continuous network that do not comprise a clearly defined shape.

Azodicarboxy additives for rubber compositions

A polymeric composition includes a diene elastomer; an azodicarboxy compound; and a reinforcing filler comprising silica. The composition is not foamed. A method for preparing a polymeric composition includes mixing in one or more steps: a diene elastomer; an azodicarboxy compound; and a reinforcing filler. The mixing temperature is less than 160° C. in mixing steps in which the azodicarboxy compound is present. In an embodiment, the mixing temperature is kept below the decomposition temperature of the azodicarboxy compound.

Painting in commercial, residential, and retail environments requires extreme care to avoid paint being deposited where it is not required. Drop cloths are commonly used to protect a floor or furniture during the painting process. However, these are generally simply plastic sheets to provide a barrier to the liquid paint and nothing more. Accordingly, it would be advantageous to provide a drop sheet or tarp that supports a liquid material drying process such as by dehydration, coagulate, etc. or form solid materials thereby reducing the instances of subsequent paint transfer from the drop sheet or tarp directly or indirectly to other surfaces and/or objects. It would also be advantageous to drop sheet or tarp that provides a non-slip surface which prevents the drop sheet from sliding around and remains well in place without additional weights, tape, etc.
