REACTIVE SILICA IN EPOXIDIZED POLYBUTADIENER

A rubber composition that is based upon a cross-linkable elastomer composition comprising, per 100 parts by weight of rubber (phr) between 70 phr and 100 phr of an epoxidized rubber component selected from an epoxidized polybutadiene rubber (eBR), an epoxidized styrene-butadiene rubber (eSBR), or combinations thereof, wherein the epoxidized rubber component has a Tg of between −80° C. and −110° C. and an epoxy-function content of between 1 mol % and 25 mol %; between 30 phr and 150 phr of a plasticizing resin; and a quickly reactive silica that provides a macro dispersion Z-value of at least 50 in a defined rubber composition; and a non-silol coupling agent.

SHEET TRANSPORT ROLLER RUBBER COMPOSITION AND SHEET TRANSPORT ROLLER

A rubber composition capable of manufacturing a sheet transport roller having an excellent friction coefficient and wear resistance. A sheet transport roller rubber composition contains an ethylene-α-olefin-diene copolymer as a base rubber, a sulfur-based crosslinking agent, and a coumarone-indene resin. It is preferable that the sheet transport roller rubber composition be obtained by mixing the base rubber and the coumarone-indene resin at a temperature equal to or higher than a softening point of the coumarone-indene resin to prepare a mixture, and then mixing this mixture with a sulfur-based crosslinking agent.

Low compression set thermoplastic gel and cable gel seal arrangement

Disclosed herein are various cable gel seal arrangements and thermoplastic gels useful therein. The thermoplastic gels are prepared from a composition including a styrene triblock copolymer, a styrene diblock copolymer, an oil extender, and an additive selected from poly(2,6-dimethyl-1,4-phenylene oxide), a C9 resin, poly(alpha-methylstyrene), a coumarone-indene resin, and combinations thereof, wherein the additive has a T.sub.g from about 95° C. to about 200° C. The thermoplastic gels advantageously exhibit low compression set.

There is disclosed an elastomeric styrenic block copolymer (SBC) composition comprising one or more SBCs and one or more polymers miscible with styrenic end blocks of the one or more SBCs; wherein said block copolymer composition is both physically and chemically crosslinked; wherein said chemical crosslinking comprises covalent bonds between chains of SBC and; wherein said physical crosslinking comprises non-covalent interaction between styrenic end blocks of the one or more SBCs and the one or more polymers miscible with the styrenic end blocks.

Also disclosed is a miscible polymer blend comprising one or more SBCs and one or more polymers miscible with styrenic end blocks of the one or more SBCs; wherein said miscible polymer blend is both physically and chemically crosslinked; wherein said chemical crosslinking comprises covalent bonds between chains of SBC and; wherein said physical crosslinking comprises non-covalent interaction between styrenic end blocks of the one or more SBCs and the one or more polymers miscible with the styrenic end blocks.

The herein disclosed unique compositions or blends comprising physically and chemically cross-linked styrene block copolymers find use in, for example, the manufacture of thin-walled dipped articles such as condoms or gloves. The unique compositions or blends overcome the shortcoming of chemical resistance in presently available SBCs while maintaining a high level of mechanical resistance and flexibility.
