Polymeric dispersants containing one or two quaternary amine anchoring groups with improved chemical and thermal stability
The present invention relates to a dispersant having a tertiary or quaternary amine anchoring group and a solubilizing polymer selected from C.sub.8-50 fatty acid; a C.sub.8-50 ak(en)yl substituted succinic acid, anhydride or partial ester; a dimer or trimer fatty acid; and/or polymers from repeating units of polyesters, polyethers, polyacrylate, polyamides, polyurethanes or mixtures of said repeating units in a random or blocky copolymer. The dispersants are an improvement in that the alkylene connecting group between the tertiary or quaternized amine and the solubilizing polymer lacks abstractable hydrogen atoms at the geminal carbon atom from the nitrogen of the tertiary or quaternized amine over the prior art. The dispersants are useful as dispersants with improved thermal stability and low amounts yellow color after aging at elevated temperatures.
MICROFLUIDIC PRODUCTION OF BIOFUNCTIONALIZED GIANT UNILAMELLAR VESICLES FOR TARGETED CARGO DELIVERY
The present invention relates to a method for preparation of monodisperse cell-targeting giant unilamellar vesicles based on symmetrically division of a parent polymer shell-stabilized giant unilamellar vesicle into smaller polymer shell-stabilized giant unilamellar vesicles with a diameter between 1 μm and 10 μm using a microfluidic splitting device. The inventive method allows preparation of differently charged giant unilamellar vesicles as well as bioligand- and PEG-conjugated giant unilamellar vesicles, which are useful for targeted cellular delivery at high efficiency and specificity. A further advantage of the present invention is that the giant unilamellar vesicles can deliver huge cargos such as drug releasing porous microparticles, high amounts of in vivo imaging probes, viruses, or up-and-coming DNA origami robots.
PROCESS FOR PRODUCING PIGMENT-CONTAINING MODIFIED POLYMER PARTICLES
The present invention relates to [1] a process for producing pigment-containing modified polymer particles, including the step of reacting pigment-containing polymer particles (A) containing a functional group and a compound (B) containing a reactive group capable of reacting with the functional group of the polymer particles (A) in a medium under such a condition that a ratio [(B)/(A)] of total moles of the reactive group of the compound (B) to total moles of the functional group of the polymer particles (A) is from 0.10 to 0.62; [2] a pigment water dispersion including an aqueous medium and the modified polymer particles produced by the aforementioned process which are dispersed in the aqueous medium; and [3] an ink including the aforementioned pigment water dispersion and an organic solvent. The modified polymer particles are free from formation of coarse particles upon production of pigment particles, so that an ink obtained by using the modified polymer particles can be prevented from suffering from increase in viscosity thereof when the ink is being concentrated by evaporation of water from the ink, and is excellent in rub fastness when printed on a low-water absorbing recording medium.
UNIVERSAL PIGMENT PREPARATION
A universal pigment preparation including a flocculation-stabilizing medium including (a1) reaction products of di- or polycarboxylic acids or hydroxycarboxylic acids with di- or polyols, and (a2) reaction products of alkylene oxides with alkoxylatable compounds, and at least one pigment. Paints, varnishes, printing inks, coating materials, floor coatings, potting compounds and filling compounds may be made using the universal pigment preparation.

Optical product and optical filter including same
The present invention relates to an optical article, and an optical filter and an imaging device including the same. The optical article comprises: a near-infrared absorption glass substrate including a divalent copper ion as a chromatic ingredient; and a pigment dispersion layer formed on one surface or both surfaces of the near-infrared absorption glass substrate and having a near-infrared absorption pigment and an ultraviolet absorption pigment dispersed across the resin matrix thereof. Provided with a first and a second transmission cut-off region, the optical article has the advantage of allowing the fabrication of an excellent near-infrared cut-off filter that can effectively block light in near-infrared and ultraviolet bands and does not permit a difference in color sense with the change of incident angles.
