Laundry care compositions
A laundry care composition comprises a laundry care ingredient or adjunct and at least one compound that is capable of changing from a first color state (i.e., the initial color state in the composition) to a second color state that is perceptibly different from the first color state. A method for treating textile articles comprises the steps of: (a) providing a laundry care composition as described above; (b) adding the laundry care composition to a liquid medium; and (c) placing the textile articles in the liquid medium.
Wetness indicator compositions comprising leuco dyes
The present invention relates to wetness indicator compositions that comprise at least one leuco dye and one color developer in a hot-melt adhesive matrix. Upon contact with water or with water-containing fluids, said wetness indicator compositions are apt to change their color from a colorless state to a colorful state or from a first colored state to a second colored state having a color different from the first one; in particular, from a first colorless, white, or translucent state to a second state having a visible color, or vice versa. The disclosed wetness indicator compositions can be used as wetness/fluid indicators in various applications, e.g. in packaging articles and in absorbent articles; in an absorbent mat or sheet or operatory cloth for medical use; in a wound dressing product; in an absorbent mat or sheet for food products.
Color developing colorless primer
The intense purple dye normally found in purple primers for use in the adhesive bonding of plastics is replaced with a leuco dye capable developing a visually intense color when activated through contact with the particular plastic being bonded or a complementary solvent cement.
Aqueous-triggered color-appearing inks
The invention describes a color-developing composition that contains at least four major components: (1) a leuco dye or a combination of leuco dyes, (2) an electron-withdrawing color-developer agent or a combination of color-developers that can form colored complexes with the leuco dyes, (3) a separator or combination of separators that when present in sufficient amounts, can prevent the formation of the colored complexes between the color-developer and leuco dyes, all contained within (4) an encapsulation matrix that includes at least one film-forming and one aqueous-insoluble polymer. All of the foregoing components are dissolved together in a volatile organic solvent medium to form a homogeneous solution that can be applied as an ink on substrates, which can be incorporated as part of absorbent articles or personal care products.
