Effect pigments coated with organic binders for powders paints, and a method for producing said coated effect pigments and their use
The invention relates to coated effect pigments, wherein the coating comprises a binder which is suitable for powder paints. They comprise a crystalline and an amorphous fraction which is determined by C.sup.13 NMR MAS relaxation measurements, the relaxation of the .sup.13C cores being fitted as a biexponential relaxation according to the formula (II) and the degree of crystallinity c being in a range between 40 to 85%, and relaxation having a short average relaxation time T.sub.1.sup.S and a long average relaxation time T.sub.1.sup.l, and T.sub.1.sup.l being in a range of from 65 to 130 s. The effect pigments coated according to the invention have at least one endothermic peak with a maximum from a range of T.sub.max=100 to 150° C. and an enthalpy ΔH associated with said peak from a range of 15 J/g to 80 J/g in DSC at a feed speed of 5° C./min, the enthalpy being calculated relative to the amount of the binder. The binders are applied to the effect pigment by way of spontaneous precipitation.
COLORED METALLIC PIGMENT
A colored metallic pigment according to the present invention is a colored metallic pigment including at least a metallic pigment, an amorphous silicon oxide film layer formed on a surface of the metallic pigment, a metallic-particle-supporting layer formed on a surface of the amorphous silicon oxide film layer, and metallic particles formed on a surface of the metallic-particle-supporting layer, characterized in that the metallic-particle-supporting layer is formed of one or both of a metal layer and a metal oxide layer composed of a metal oxide other than silicon oxide, the metallic particles are formed to directly cover a part of the surface of the metallic-particle-supporting layer, and the amorphous silicon oxide film layer has a thickness of more than 500 nm.
EFFECT PIGMENTS COATED WITH ORGANIC BINDERS FOR POWDER PAINTS, AND A METHOD FOR PRODUCING SAID COATED EFFECT PIGMENTS AND THEIR USE

Coated bismuth oxy halide-based pigment
The present invention is directed to a coated bismuth oxy halide-based pigment having a coating comprising an anti-oxidant, said antioxidant is being a phenol based, a phosphite or phosphonate based, or a thioether based stabilizer, and the coating comprising an inner coating and an outer coating, wherein the outer coating comprises the antioxidant, and wherein the inner coating comprises a first layer consisting of one or more salts, or one or more oxides, heteropolyacids, organic acids, sulphites, sulfides, sulfates, phosphates, pyrophosphates, polyphosphates, hydrates, carbonates, or a combination thereof, selected from the group of alkali-earth metals, metals, non-metals, transition metals or lanthanides. Further, the present invention is directed to a composition comprising a paint, a lacquer, an ink, a cosmetic, a resin, a plastisol or a polymer formulation, and such pigment. In addition, the present invention is directed to a method for manufacturing a coated bismuth oxy halide-based pigment, said method comprising the steps of: —providing a dispersion of a bismuth oxy halide-based pigment, —adding a dispersion of an antioxidant, —mixing and drying.

PIGMENTS
Pigments based on particles which are coated with at least one layer which consists of a mixture of amorphous carbon (a-C) and nanocrystalline graphite (nc-graphite) and use of these pigments in, for example, paints, plastics, industrial coatings, automotive coatings, printing inks and cosmetic formulations.

PIGMENT COMPOSITION COMPRISING PLATE-SHAPED ALUMINUM HAVING EXCELLENT EXPLOSION STABILITY, AND METHOD FOR PREPARING SAME
A pigment composition according to an embodiment includes aluminum flakes coated with a plurality of metal oxide layers and TiO2 coated with a metal oxide layer, thus having explosion stability. The pigment composition may be prepared by mixing with TiO2 coated with a metal oxide layer having lower apparent specific gravity as compared to other plate-shaped inorganic particles. The pigment composition can have stability against a thermite reaction by aluminum and metal oxides while preventing deterioration of saturation and opacity.
