An embodiment of the present invention is a method for producing a laminate, the method including: a step 1 of dry-treating a surface A of a plastic to obtain a dry-treated plastic having a surface B that has been dry-treated; a step 2 of wiping the surface B with a cleaning tool containing a composition for wiping, the composition containing at least one solvent selected from the group consisting of water and polar solvents, and a silane coupling agent, to obtain a cleaned plastic having a surface C that has been wiped with the cleaning tool; and a step 3 of applying at least one selected from the group consisting of adhesives and primers on the surface C to obtain a laminated body.
PRIMER FOR ADHESIVE TAPES
Primer for adhesive tape with improved adhesion promoting properties, comprising a mixture G, which is dissolved or dispersed in one or more solvents, consisting of at least one copolymer obtained by copolymerization of a monomer mixture comprising an amount of at least 90 wt % of the following monomers: vinylcaprolactam and/or vinylpyrrolidone; one or more of the monomers a) and/or b): a) acrylic acid ester of a linear, primary alcohol having 2 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl group of the alcohol, b) acrylic acid ester of a branched, non-cyclic alcohol having 3 to 12 carbon atoms in the alkyl group, at least one chlorinated polyolefin, and at least one metal compound selected from the group consisting of metal acetylacetonates, metal alkoxides and alkoxy-metal acetylacetonates.
Process for Forming a Laminate
The present disclosure provides a process. The process includes (A) providing at least 6 film layers, each film layer being a pearlized biaxially oriented polypropylene; (B) applying a solvent-less adhesive at a coat weight of 2.0 g/m.sup.2 to 3.5 g/m.sup.2 between each film layer; and (C) forming a laminate, the laminate having a thickness of at least 300 μm. The solvent-less adhesive contains (i) a polyol component including at least one polyol selected from a polyester polyol, a polyether polyol, and combinations thereof; and (ii) an isocyanate component including an isocyanate prepolymer that is the reaction product of at least one isocyanate monomer and at least one polyol selected from a polyester polyol, a polyether polyol, and combinations thereof. The present disclosure also provides a laminate formed by said process.
A THERMOPLASTIC COMPOSITION HAVING IMPROVED MECHANICAL PROPERTIES
A thermoplastic composition including a thermoplastic polymer component and at least one elastomer, wherein the thermoplastic polymer component comprises at least one propylene copolymer having a propylene content of at least 60 wt.-% and at least one ethylene copolymer having an ethylene content of at least 50 wt.-%. The invention is also directed to a sealing device comprising a waterproofing layer obtained by using the thermoplastic composition, to a method for producing a sealing device, to a method for waterproofing a substrate, and to a method for bonding a first substrate to a second substrate.
METHOD OF IMPROVING SHEAR STABILITY OF HIGHLY CONCENTRATED AQUEOUS ADHESIVE POLYMER COMPOSITIONS
Method of improving shear stability of highly concentrated aqueous adhesive polymer compositions comprising a specific adhesive polymer which has been prepared by emulsion polymerization and which is dispersed in the aqueous adhesive composition. Said method comprises treating the aqueous adhesive polymer composition with at least one anion exchange resin.
PHOTOCURABLE ADHESIVE COMPOSITIONS
Photocurable adhesive compositions are provided herein, which have a balance of fast curing properties and strength development and retention over time after exposure to accelerated ageing conditions.
METHOD FOR ADHERING PROFILES TO SUBSTRATE SURFACES
Provided are methods for adhesively bonding profiles to substrate surface. An example method includes plasma-treating each of a profile surface and a first adhesive side of a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive. The pressure sensitive adhesive includes a) 40 to 70 wt %, based on the total weight of the pressure sensitive adhesive, of at least one poly(meth)acrylate; b) 15 to 50 wt %, based on the total weight of the pressure sensitive adhesive, of at least one synthetic rubber; and c) at least one tackifier compatible with the poly(meth)acrylate(s). The method further includes bonding the profile surface and the first adhesive side to one another, plasma-treating a second adhesive side of the layer of the pressure sensitive adhesive, and bonding the plasma-treated second adhesive side to the substrate surface.
POLYPROPYLENE BONDING ADHESIVE AND PROCESS
A two-part polyurethane adhesive exhibits excellent adhesion to low surface energy substrates such as polypropylene. The adhesive consists of a polyol component and a polyisocyanate component that are combined and cured to form the adhesive bond. The polyol component is characterized in containing a monoalcohol that has a molecular weight of 100 to 2000. The presence of the monoalcohol promotes strong bonding and a cohesive failure mode that is preferred in vehicular applications.
