Method of gasifying carbonaceous material and a gasification system
A method of gasifying carbonaceous material is described. The method comprises a first step of pyrolyzing and partially gasifying the carbonaceous material to produce volatiles and char. The volatiles and the char are then separated and, subsequently, the char is gasified and the volatiles are reformed. The raw product gas is then finally cleaned with char or char-supported catalysts or other catalysts.
DEVICE FOR THERMOLYSIS IN STAGES
A thermolysis device for supplying heat energy at a temperature of between 80 C. and 700 C. and capable of adjusting the temperature inside a chamber including a raw material supply inlet, a thermolysis gas outlet, and an outlet for the solid or liquid materials from the thermolysis reaction. The chamber encloses at least one plate, separating the chamber into a top portion and a bottom portion, and at least one transfer element. The transfer element and/or the plate is mounted so as to rotate about an axis, the raw material supply inlet is placed above the plate, thus defining a first point for a raw material to drop onto the plate.
Gasifier system
A gasifier system for reducing the particle size of non-gas byproducts of the gasification process. The gasifier system generally includes a grinder that permits uninterrupted syngas flow during gasification of biomass that contains high amounts of silica and/or salts. The described system and method incorporates a grinder that breaks apart the resultant non-gas byproducts into finer particles that may be flushed out of a gasifier using the syngas stream. The particles may then be easily separated from the gas stream in a separator and collected in a char or waste bin for removal/disposal.
