Bicycle lubricant
11708541 · 2023-07-25 ·

A bicycle chain lubricant that may be applied as a coating on a bicycle chain is a crystalline solid at ambient temperatures, yet when the chain is in motion the forces around internal components locally transforms the coating to a lubricous fluid. This increases chain efficiency in the drive train and reduces ware by limiting water and dirt access to chain internal components.

Solid film lubricant, method for producing same, sliding element comprising same and use thereof

The invention relates to an imide polymer-based solid film lubricant, a method for producing same, a sliding element comprising same and the use thereof. According to the method, difunctional or cyclized difunctional compounds and optionally functional fillers are added to a non-imidized or partly imidized polyamide acid prepolymer or an imidized short-chain blocked prepolymer in a solvent or solvent mixture and then, depending on the prepolymer, a polymerization reaction or an imidization reaction and in both cases a crosslinking reaction is carried out. The solid film lubricant comprises an imide polymer as the resin matrix and optionally functional fillers, the molecules of the imide polymer comprising groups (R.sub.1) of the difunctional compounds that additionally contribute to the crosslinking.

The binder-free solid lubricant layer and the lubricant layer are present as separate layers on the main body and wherein the mass ratio of solid lubricant to lubricant is at most 0.05:1

Anti-friction lacquer and sliding element having such an anti-friction lacquer

The invention relates to an anti-friction lacquer having a polymer as a resin matrix and functional fillers, the functional fillers containing mixed-phase oxides and optionally further functional fillers. The invention further relates to a sliding element having a metallic substrate layer and a coating which is applied thereon and made of at least such an anti-friction lacquer and to a method for the production thereof.

Friction control and captive sealant for pressed windows

An improved method of sealing a window into an aperture in a body uses a lubricant comprising polymer particles suspended in a volatile, low viscosity, low surface tension carrier fluid. The carrier fluid is applied to one or both of the sidewalls of the window and aperture, and the window is pressed into the aperture such that the carrier fluid evaporates, leaving the polymer particles to fill interstitial surface voids, while enabling the sidewall of the window to make intimate mechanical contact with the sidewall of the aperture. While having broader application, the present disclosure finds particular utility in optical characterization techniques based upon the Raman effect and fluorescence probes used in process monitoring and control.
