Macromolecular corrosion (McIn) inhibitors: structures, methods of making and using the same
Disclosed are multifunctional compounds represented by structural formula (I): ##STR00001##
methods of producing compounds represented by structural formula (I) and their use in inhibiting corrosion in corrodible material.
Stimuli-responsive micro-reservoirs for release of encapsulants
This invention relates to polymer-based partially-open, hollow reservoirs in the nano-size to micro-size range that encapsulate an additive, which can be released from the reservoirs using specific event stimuli such as reduction-oxidation and voltage change, or at will, using the same stimuli. This invention also relates to method preparing such reservoirs, and for releasing the additive. This invention further relates to matrix that comprises such reservoirs and the method of preparing such matrix. This invention also relates to applications, for example in corrosion inhibition, lubrication, and adhesion, that benefit from using such a controlled release of an additive.
METHODS OF REDUCING LEAD CORROSION IN AN INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
The present disclosure describes lubricant compositions effective to reduce lead corrosion through an admixture of lubricant additives including at least a base oil of lubricating viscosity, a dispersant, a friction modifier, and boron-containing compound.
Lubricating composition for differential and gear fluids
A gear fluid composition for lubricating a driveline including organic sulfide compounds effective to achieve passing friction, extreme pressure, and copper corrosion.
Lubricating grease comprising metal soaps and metal complex soaps based on R-10-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid
The invention relates to lubricating greases based on alkali metal soaps and/or earth-alkali metal soaps and metal complex soaps based on (R)-10-hydroxyoctadecanoic acid and to the use thereof.
Combinations of Phosphorous-Containing Compounds for Use as Anti-Wear Additives in Lubricant Compositions
The present disclosure relates to a lubricant composition comprising a first phosphorus compound, a second phosphorus compound, and a third phosphorus compound, wherein the first phosphorus compound is present in the lubricant composition in an amount to provide between about 120 and 350 ppm phosphorus. The lubricant composition may provide robust anti-wear and reduced pitting.
Use of a Hydrocarbyl-Substituted Salicylic Acid Detergent as an Inhibitor of Lead Corrosion
This invention relates to the use of a metallic or non-metallic detergent which is a hydrocarbyl-substituted salicylic acid or a derivative thereof in a non-aqueous lubricant composition as an inhibitor of lead corrosion associated with ashless, organic ester, anti-wear additives and/or friction modifiers.
MICROEMULSIONS AND THEIR USES
The invention relates to a microemulsion comprising water in an amount of 1-30 w %; sodium or potassium oleate, Na/K salts of tall oil fatty acid, and/or Na/K salts of C16-C18 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids in an amount of 10-40 w %; oleic acid, tall oil fatty acid, or C16-C18 saturated or unsaturated fatty acids in an amount of 2-40 w %; ethanol in an amount of 0-40 w %; glycerol in an amount of 5-40 w %; and liquid hydrocarbon(s) in an amount of 5-40 w %, up to a maximum or total of components parts of 100 w %. Moreover, methods of manufacture and uses of the microemulsion are disclosed.
CONTINUOUS ACOUSTIC MIXING FOR PERFORMANCE ADDITIVES AND COMPOSITIONS INCLUDING THE SAME
The instant disclosure provides a process for preparing a lubricant or fuel additive mixture where an oil of lubricating viscosity or fuel are blended with additives that are mixed via an acoustic mixer. The additives and oil of lubricating viscosity or fuel can mixed together or any component of the lubricant or fuel additive mixture can be mixed separately prior to mixing to form the final lubricant. The process provides for continuous mixing to form lubricant and/or fuel additive mixture final products.
Alkoxylated phosphate esters for lubricant compositions
The present invention concerns a composition suitable for working and shaping metals, in particular providing a lubricating effect, including polymers of the following formula: [R—O(—CH(CH.sub.3)—CH.sub.2O—).sub.n(CH.sub.2—CH.sub.2O—).sub.p—].sub.1+xP(═O)(OH).sub.2-x in which: R is a linear or branched, preferably linear, saturated or unsaturated hydrocarbon group, comprising between 8 and 12 carbon atoms; n is a number, which may or may not be an integer, between 6 and 20; p is a number, which may or may not be an integer, between 4 and 25; and x is a number between 0 and 1, and in particular between 0.1 and 0.9.
