PROCESS OF EXTRACTING OIL FROM THIN STILLAGE
The present invention relates to processes of recovering oil after liquefaction and/or from thin stillage and/or syrup/evaporated centrate from a fermentation product production process by adding a thermostable protease to the whole stillage, thin stillage and/or syrup.
Method for the preparation of dried oleosomes
A method for extracting naturally occurring oil bodies (oleosomes) from a material containing naturally occurring oil bodies (oleosomes) includes the steps of dispersing the material containing oleosomes in an aqueous composition to thereby obtain an aqueous dispersion of material containing oleosomes, extracting oleosomes from the aqueous dispersion of material containing oleosomes to thereby obtain a crude oleosome extract and isolating crude oleosomes from the extract by drying the crude oleosome extract. The dried oleosome powder may be used with a personal care product, a pharmaceutical product or a food product.
OLEOSOME COMPOSITION AND PROCESS FOR PREPARING IT
The current invention relates to a process for in-creasing the yield of an isolated oleosome composition and the process is comprising blending of a processed fiber fraction of an oleosome source with at least one other fraction of an oleosome source. The invention relates to an isolated oleosome composition characterized in that it has a fiber content of from 0.5 to 15%, a particle size of the solids from 2 to 200 micron, and an oil content of 20 to 95% on total dry matter of which at least 60% is present as oleosomes. The invention relates to food and feed products, pharmaceutical products, personal care products, nutritional compositions and industrial products comprising the isolated oleosomes composition. The invention relates to the use of a fiber fraction of an oleosome source to increase the yield of the isolated oleosome composition.
SOLVENT EXTRACTION APPARATUSES AND METHODS
The disclosed embodiments include systems and methods for the solvent extraction of a substance from a material. The disclosed systems include multiple tanks and an extraction column in communication with the tanks.
A PROCESS FOR THE PRODUCTION OF DEGUMMED OIL AND GUMS, AND PRODUCTS PRODUCED BY THE PROCESS
The present disclosure relates to a process for refining crude oils using a combination of a chemical process and mega-sonic treatment to simultaneously and efficiently separate oil and gum phases. In particular, the present disclosure relates to a process for refining crude oils using a combination of chemical processes followed by megasonic treatment to effectively separate and recover entrained oil from a gum phase to increase the oil yield, and to produce an oil of higher quality with reduced gum content. The present disclosure also relates to a process for refining crude oils using a combination of chemical processes followed by megasonic treatment to effectively separate and recover entrained gums from an oil phase to increase the gum yield, and to produce a gum of higher quality with reduced oil content. The present disclosure also relates to obtaining refined oils and refined gums from the process described herein.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR PROCESSING ESSENTIAL OILS
A system for processing essential oils includes a mixing tank, three winterization vessels, three respective filtering vessels, a fine filtering vessel, a holding tank, an evaporator, an essential oil reservoir, a solvent reservoir, and a solvent filtering vessel. The evaporator can include a heat exchanger configured to heat a plate down which a mixture including the oils flows, to evaporate other components of the mixture. Fluids can be advanced through the system using a pressurized inert gas.
Closed loop extraction system
A closed loop extraction system for extracting desired components from raw plant matter and method of use is disclosed. The closed loop extraction system features a solvent source, a chill tank, a wash tank, a rinse tank, a centrifuge, and a feed tank all in fluid communication via a series of interconnected pump systems. The method of extracting the desired products from raw plant matter uses this system to perform the extraction with a reduced amount of solvent in an energy-efficient manner.
Oil comprising at least one polyunsaturated fatty acid having at least 20 carbon atoms (LC-PUFA)
The present invention relates to an oil comprising at least one polyunsaturated fatty acid having at least 20 carbon atoms (LC-PUFA). It is found that LC-PUFA-containing oil are susceptible to gelling by formation of microscopic crystals during storage ultimately resulting in unfavorable quality and handling properties. This problem has been particularly observed with a microbial oil comprising at least about 25% by weight LC-PUFA and a moisture content of 0.2 to 5% by weight. Surprisingly, it has been found that a LC-PUFA-containing oil as described above is effectively stable and does not show gelling properties under conventional storage conditions, if the oil composition as such contains less than about 8% preferably less than about 5% by weight of free fatty acid in the residual moisture of the oil. Therefore, the present invention is directed to an oil comprising at least about 25% by weight LC-PUFA and a moisture content comprising less than about 8% preferably less than about 5% by weight of free fatty acid.
RESIDUAL SOLVENT RECOVERY APPARATUSES AND METHODS
The disclosed embodiments include systems and methods for removing and recovering residual solvent from a solvent-bearing mass.
Moisture Displacement and Simultaneous Migration of Surface-Functionalized Algae from Water to an Extraction Solvent Using Ionic Polyelectrolytes
This invention is in the field of micro-organism and algal cell processing. The invention relates to a method of maximizing migration of micro-organism and/or algal cells to a solvent fraction while simultaneously displacing water in a separate fraction and subsequent extraction of hydrophobic products from the organisms. The invention further relates to a method of sequestration of protein from an aqueous phase to an organic solvent.
