A METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR PRODUCING AN OIL RICH FRACTION FROM BIOMASS
20230235507 · 2023-07-27 ·

The invention relates to a method for producing an oil rich fraction (OF) from primary feedstock (FS) that comprises water, first salt, second salt, and biomass. The feedstock (FS) is provided to a first reaction zone (Z1) of a conversion reactor (100), where it is allowed to react at a temperature of at least 350° C. in a pressure of at least 160 bar to form converted primary feedstock. The method comprises separating from the converted primary feedstock a first salt rich fraction (SF1), a second salt rich fraction (SF2), and an oil rich fraction (OF). The method comprises withdrawing the oil rich fraction (OF) from the first reaction zone (Z1) and withdrawing the first salt rich fraction (SF1) and the second salt rich fraction (SF2) from the conversion reactor (100). In the method the first salt rich fraction (SF1) comprises at least some of the first salt dissolved in the water, the second salt rich fraction (SF2) comprises at least some of the second salt in solid form, and at least one of the first salt and the second salt is a salt capable of catalysing the reaction of the biomass of the primary feedstock (FS) with the water of the primary feedstock (FS) to produce the oil rich fraction (OF). A device for the same.

METHOD FOR REMEDIATING WATER SOURCES AND MIXTURES FORMED FROM THE SAME
20230022483 · 2023-01-26 ·

Described herein is a method of remediating a water source of a target aquatic life. The method comprises collecting at least one target species of aquatic life from a water source, separating an oil from the solids of the target aquatic life, and refining a polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) mixture from the oil. The water source is at least partially remediated by collecting the at least one target species of aquatic life from the water source.

METHOD FOR EXTRACTING PALMITOLEIC ACID FROM MACADAMIA INTEGRIFOLIA AND USE THEREOF

The present disclosure relates to the technical field of nut-derived fruit oil preparation, in particular to a method for extracting palmitoleic acid from Macadamia integrifolia and use thereof. In the method for extracting palmitoleic acid from Macadamia integrifolia, a fruit oil of the Macadamia integrifolia is purified by vacuum distillation, and an antioxidant is added during the vacuum distillation. A preparation method of the antioxidant includes the following steps: extracting a pulverized Macadamia integrifolia green peel using ethanol by heat reflux to obtain a green peel extract; extracting the green peel extract using petroleum ether, and then using ethyl acetate; collecting an ethyl acetate layer to obtain the antioxidant. The method can avoid easy oxidization and deterioration of oil during extracting and enriching the palmitoleic acid, and can enrich the palmitoleic acid in the fruit oil of the Macadamia integrifolia by not less than 3 times.

FORMULATION TO SOLIDIFY COOKING OIL OR GREASE AND METHODS OF MAKING AND USING THE SAME
20220408750 · 2022-12-29 ·

A formulation for solidifying used cooking oil or grease and methods of making and using the same is disclosed. The formulation comprises hydrogenated castor oil, sometimes having a flake morphology. In some embodiments, the formulation has a melting point of between 70 and 80° C. and a density between 0.7 and 1.0 g/L. In some embodiments, the formulation is created by heating castor oil in the presence of a catalyst until at least some of the ricinoleic acid content in the castor oil is reduced to form hydrogenated castor oil in a reaction mixture. The method of using the formulation comprises the steps of mixing the formulation and used cooking oil or grease at an elevated temperature until the formulation completely dissolves into the used cooking oil to form a formulation mixture, and waiting until the formulation mixture cools and solidifies prior to disposal.
