Hazardous contaminant collection kit and rapid testing
Contamination detection systems, kits, and techniques are described for testing surfaces for the presence of hazardous contaminants, while minimizing user exposure to these contaminants. Even trace amounts of contaminants can be detected. A collection kit provides a swab that is simple to use, easy to hold and grip, allows the user to swab large areas of a surface, and keeps the user's hands away from the surface being tested. The kit also provides open and closed fluid transfer mechanism to transfer the collected fluid to a detection device while minimizing user exposure to hazardous contaminants in the collected fluid. Contamination detection kits can rapidly collect and detect hazardous drugs, including trace amounts of antineoplastic agents, in healthcare settings at the site of contamination.

Integrated device for swab sample collection and rapid testing
In some embodiments, the present invention is a device, including: a swab including an absorptive component attached to a stem, an extraction chamber configured to receive the swab and position the absorptive component of the swab configured to be in fluid communication with an extraction reagent, a test strip configured to be brought in fluid communication with the extraction reagent following extraction of the analyte from the biological sample, including: a sample receiving portion configured to accept a sample, a site on the strip where the analyte-specific labeled reagent has been incorporated, such reagent configured to bind the analyte from the biological sample, a capture portion configured to receive: the analyte from the biological sample and the analyte-specific labeled reagent so as to result in displaying a positive or negative result at the completion of the assay, and an adsorbent pad attached to the test strip.

Devices and Methods for Inoculating a Target
Inoculating systems/devices, methods for inoculating a target, and coating methods are disclosed. An example inoculating system may include an inoculating member having a transfer region and a handle region. A pre-determined quantity of viable microorganisms may be disposed on the transfer region. The inoculating member may be configured to transfer the pre-determined quantity of viable microorganisms to a target during an inoculation operation without having to rehydrate the pre-determined quantity of viable microorganisms prior to the inoculating operation.
TOOL FOR THE DISTRIBUTION OF A SAMPLE OF BIOLOGICAL OR MICROBIOLOGICAL MATERIAL AND ASSOCIATED PROCESS OF DISTRIBUTION
A tool for the distribution of a sample of biological or microbiological material, the tool including an elongated body, provided with a first portion and a second portion different from the first portion; a distributing element being configured at least for distributing a sample of biological or microbiological material on a culture medium; a connector being configured for allowing the removable joining of the tool with a supporting element of a machine configured for carrying out a distribution of a sample of material, in particular of a pipetting machine; wherein the distributing element is electrically and/or capacitively coupled to the elongated body and/or to the connector; the tool being configured for acting as capacitive probe adapted to detect contact at least of the distributing element with the culture medium and/or the sample of biological or microbiological material and for allowing to keep said contact during the movement of the tool.
Surface detection and picktool manipulator
A picktool manipulator device collects a specimen from a culture medium. In a first mode of operation, a picktool is allowed to move in an axial direction relative to support structure of the device. A detector may generate a signal in response to movement of the body in the axial direction so as to determine a height at which the picktool contacts the medium. The device may operate in the first mode when collecting a specimen from a culture medium. A second mode of operation constrains or precludes axial movement of the picktool. In some cases, the device may operate in the second mode when receiving a new picktool or discarding a used picktool.
