DEVICE FOR HOMOGENIZATION OF A MULTICOMPONENT FLUID
A device for homogenizing a multicomponent fluid including a main channel, a first and a second buffer channels, a collector connected to the main channel with a main conduct, to the first buffer channel with a first fiber and to the second buffer channel with a second fiber. The collector further includes a flow separation point aimed at dividing the main conduct into the first and second fibers, a pumping unit configured to move the multicomponent fluid from the main channel to the first or the second buffer channels through the collector and move the multicomponent fluid from the first or the second buffer channels to the main channel through the collector.
Arrayed lyser and homogenizer systems with multiple agitator devices
Systems and methods for the efficient agitation of tissue samples. A device may include a plurality of chambers that each receives samples therein. The plurality of chambers may be uniformly spaced with respect to a least one dimension, to form a one dimensional or two dimensional array. Each of the chambers may include an opening and an agitator device in fluid contact with the sample disposed within the chamber. The agitator devices may include a micromotor which provides rotational motion to a shaft and an impeller fixed to the shaft such that the impeller and the shaft rotate together upon provision of the rotational motion by the micromotor. The system may include an electrical energy source electrically coupled to the plurality of micromotors to rotate the impellers sufficient to agitate the sample as required for a particular activity (e.g., homogenization, lysis).
System for obtaining protein-rich nutrient supplements from bacterial fermentation process
Protein-rich nutrient supplements and animal feed supplements derived from an anaerobic bacterial process are generated through a myriad of cell rupturing and protein fractionation/purification processes. Bacterial fermentation systems and methods of obtaining one or more protein-containing portions from a fermentation process using carbon monoxide-containing gaseous substrates are provided. The invention further provides compositions of protein-rich nutrient supplements with useful applications for intake by a variety of different animals and humans.
DEVICE FOR LYSING BIOLOGICAL SPECIES AND METHOD IMPLEMENTED BY SAID DEVICE
A device and method for lysing biological species present in a fluid includes implementing a rough surface against which the objects to be lysed are crushed by a shearing motion. A device for mechanically lysing biological species has a first and second wall mounted movable relative to each other, between an initial position in which the walls are separated from each other, and a lysing position in which the first wall presses against the second wall. The first and second walls also are mounted shearingly movable relative to each other in the lysing position. At least one of the first or second walls has a rough bearing surface against the other wall and has a mean surface roughness parameter Ra of between 0.2 μm and 10 μm, and preferably between 0.2 μm and 3 μm.
CELL MASS DISSOCIATOR, METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING CELL MASS DISSOCIATOR, AND METHOD FOR DISSOCIATING CELL MASS
There is provided a cell mass dissociator including a serpentine flow path which is a flow path through which a cell mass flows.
METHODS AND DEVICES FOR HARVESTING AND PROCESSING CONNECTIVE TISSUE PRECURSOR CELLS FROM AUTOLOGOUS FAT
Methods and devices are disclosed for processing stromal precursor cells (i.e., cells which can differentiate into connective tissue cells, such as in muscles, ligaments, or tendons) which can be obtained from fatty tissue extracts obtained via liposuction. Normal processing of a liposuction extract involves centrifugation, to concentrate the stromal cells into a semi-concentrated form called “spun fat”. That “spun fat” can then be treated by mechanical processing (such as pressure-driven extrusion through 0.5 mm holes) under conditions which can gently pry the stromal cells away from extra-cellular collagen fibers and other debris in the “spun fat”. The extruded mixture is then centrifuged again, to separate a highly-enriched population of stromal cells which is suited for injection back into the patient (along with platelet cells, if desired, to further promote tissue repair or regeneration).
Carbon-Negative Bioplastic
Through sourcing net-primary productivity additive algae-based biomass feedstock, the exclusive use of renewable energy in processing, and the appropriate formulation and processing, a novel algae-derived bio-based plastic is both carbon-negative and provides some performance advantages over existing algae-based film plastics especially with regard to optical clarity. A system may be provided that produces a carbon-negative bioplastic. The production of the bioplastic in a process chamber may be controlled by an electronic controller. The electronic controller may be controlled by a host system, such a server. The electronic controller may be configured to direct production of the bioplastic in the process chamber using hydrocolloid, which is derived from algae.
HIGH SHEAR MIXER
Spent stillage remaining after the fermentation of a feedstock for ethanol production may be processed to recover, use, and/or recycle the constituent components of the stillage. Stillage may be mixed, heated, and held at a desired temperature for a period of time. The stillage may then be cooled and treated with an enzyme. The enzymatically treated stillage may be emulsified with oil and water, and then permitted to settle into discrete layers. Individual layers may then be processed. A system and method for separating stillage after the fermentation process of ethanol production has concluded are provided.
