A method of continuous manufacturing of solidified steelmaking slag including the steps of solidifying molten steelmaking slag comprising at least 2% in weight of free lime so as to produce solidified slag particles having a diameter below 1 mm, the molten steelmaking slag being put in contact with at least a first carbonation gas during such solidification, cooling the solidified slag particles down to a temperature below or equal to 300° C., in a closed chamber, the solidified slag particles being put in contact with at least one second carbonation gas during such cooling. The invention is also related to an associated device.

PYROMETALLURGICAL PROCESS FOR RECOVERING NICKEL, MANGANESE, AND COBALT
A 2-step high temperature process for recovering Ni, Co, and Mn from various sources comprises preparing a metallurgical charge comprising materials containing Ni, Co, and Mn, and Si, Al, Ca and Mg as slag formers; smelting the charge with slag formers in first reducing conditions, thereby obtaining a Ni—Co alloy comprising a major part of at least one of Co and Ni, with Si<0.1%, and a first slag comprising the major part of the Mn; separation of the first slag from the alloy; and, smelting the first slag in second reducing conditions, more reducing than said first reducing conditions, thereby obtaining a Si—Mn alloy comprising the major part of the Mn, with Si>10%, and a second slag. A Ni—Co alloy is produced, and a Si—Mn alloy is produced. The second slag is essentially free of heavy metals and therefore suitable for reuse.
RECOVERY OF VANADIUM FROM ALKALINE SLAG MATERIALS
A method for the recovery of vanadium from a vanadium containing feed stream, the method comprising the steps of: subjecting the vanadium feed stream to a leach step, the leach step comprising contacting the vanadium feed stream with an alkaline carbonate leach solution to form a leach slurry comprising a pregnant leach solution containing vanadium and a solid residue; passing the leach slurry to a solid/liquid separation step to produce a pregnant leach solution containing vanadium; and recovering a vanadium product from the pregnant leach solution.
RECOVERY OF VANADIUM FROM ALKALINE SLAG MATERIALS
A method for the recovery of vanadium from a vanadium containing feed stream, the method comprising the steps of: subjecting the vanadium feed stream to a leach step, the leach step comprising contacting the vanadium feed stream with an alkaline carbonate leach solution to form a leach slurry comprising a pregnant leach solution containing vanadium and a solid residue; passing the leach slurry to a solid/liquid separation step to produce a pregnant leach solution containing vanadium; and recovering a vanadium product from the pregnant leach solution.
Method for disposal of waste printed circuit board thermal cracking slag and smelting soot
The invention discloses a method for cracking slag and smelting soot of the waste circuit board, belongs to the field of comprehensive recycling of valuable elements from typical soot of waste circuit boards, and particularly relates to a method for cracking slag and smelting soot of the waste circuit board for debromination and comprehensive recovery of copper and zinc. The method includes the following steps of: crushing and sorting, mixture roasting, reinforced leaching, replacement and silver precipitation, sulfuration and copper precipitation, and evaporation crystallization. Compared to traditional recycling technology, the purpose of treating two kinds of solid waste in a coupling mode through one recycling technology is achieved. Through mixed sulfuric acid roasting, the requirement of bromide synergistic removal of the waste circuit board cracking slag and smelting soot is met, and the purpose of selective conversion of copper and zinc is achieved.
Recovery of nickel and cobalt from Li-ion batteries or their waste
The present invention lies in the field of pyrometallurgy and discloses a process and a slag suitable for the recovery of Ni and Co from Li-ion batteries or their waste. The slag composition is defined according to:
10%<MnO<40%;
(CaO+1.5*Li.sub.2O)/Al.sub.2O.sub.3>0.3;
CaO+0.8*MnO+0.8*Li.sub.2O<60%;
(CaO+2*Li.sub.2O+0.4*MnO)/SiO.sub.2≥2.0;
Li.sub.2≥1%; and,
Al.sub.2O.sub.3+SiO.sub.2+CaO+Li.sub.2O+MnO+FeO+MgO>85%.
This composition is particularly adapted to limit or avoid the corrosion of furnaces lined with magnesia-bearing refractory bricks.
PLASMA INDUCED FUMING FURNACE
Disclosed is a single-chamber furnace for fuming an evaporable metal or metal compound from a metallurgical charge including a bath furnace for containing a molten charge up to a determined level, the furnace being equipped with a non-transferred plasma torch for the generation of plasma and a first submerged injector for injecting the plasma below the determined level, the furnace further including an afterburning zone to form an oxidized form of the at least one evaporable metal or metal compound, and a recovery zone for recovering the oxidized form from the gas formed in the afterburning zone, whereby the furnace is further equipped with a second submerged injector for injecting extra gas into the furnace below the determined level. Further disclosed is the use of the furnace and a process for fuming an evaporable metal or metal compound from a metallurgical charge.
PLASMA INDUCED FUMING FURNACE
Disclosed is a single-chamber furnace for fuming an evaporable metal or metal compound from a metallurgical charge including a bath furnace for containing a molten charge up to a determined level, the furnace being equipped with a non-transferred plasma torch for the generation of plasma and a first submerged injector for injecting the plasma below the determined level, the furnace further including an afterburning zone to form an oxidized form of the at least one evaporable metal or metal compound, and a recovery zone for recovering the oxidized form from the gas formed in the afterburning zone, whereby the furnace is further equipped with a second submerged injector for injecting extra gas into the furnace below the determined level. Further disclosed is the use of the furnace and a process for fuming an evaporable metal or metal compound from a metallurgical charge.
DIRECT CURRENT ELECTRIC ARC FURNACE
The invention relates to a method for extracting metal from metal-containing raw material in a batch process by using a direct current electric arc furnace (100) having one or more than one top electrode (125) and at least one bottom electrode (115), wherein the method comprises the following steps: adding the metal-containing raw material to the furnace (100), thereby obtaining a loaded bath, moving the top electrode(s) (125) onto the raw material, heating the loaded bath in a heating step by applying direct current through the top electrode(s) to provide an arc to melt the raw material, thereby obtaining molten metal (202), wherein an average voltage during the heating step is from 20 V to 110 V, and forming solid metal from the molten metal (202). The invention further relates to a direct current electric arc furnace, a system comprising a direct current electric arc furnace, and a solid metal obtainable by the method.
