Functionally graded metal matrix nanocomposites, and methods for producing the same
Some variations provide a metal matrix nanocomposite composition comprising metal-containing microparticles and nanoparticles, wherein the nanoparticles are chemically and/or physically disposed on surfaces of the microparticles, and wherein the nanoparticles are consolidated in a three-dimensional architecture throughout the composition. The composition may serve as an ingot for producing a metal matrix nanocomposite. Other variations provide a functionally graded metal matrix nanocomposite comprising a metal-matrix phase and a reinforcement phase containing nanoparticles, wherein the nanocomposite contains a gradient in concentration of the nanoparticles. This nanocomposite may be or be converted into a master alloy. Other variations provide methods of making a metal matrix nanocomposite, methods of making a functionally graded metal matrix nanocomposite, and methods of making a master alloy metal matrix nanocomposite. The metal matrix nanocomposite may have a cast microstructure. The methods disclosed enable various loadings of nanoparticles in metal matrix nanocomposites with a wide variety of compositions.
EARTH-BORING TOOLS COMPRISING EUTECTIC OR NEAR-EUTECTIC COMPOSITIONS
Articles comprising at least a portion of an earth-boring tool include at least one insert and a solidified eutectic or near-eutectic composition including a metal phase and a hard material phase. Other articles include a solidified eutectic or near-eutectic composition including a metal phase, a hard material phase and a coating material in contact with the solidified eutectic or near-eutectic composition.
Additively manufactured component and production method therefor
A component includes a multiplicity of individual powder particles of Mo, a Mo-based alloy, W or a W-based alloy that have been fused together to give a solid structure by a high-energy beam via an additive manufacturing method. The component has an oxygen content of not more than 0.1 at %. An additive manufacturing method includes producing the powder via the melt phase and providing a carbon content in the region of not less than 0.15 at %. The components are crack-free and have high grain boundary strength.
High carbon content cobalt-based alloy
The present invention relates to a 3D-printed cobalt-based alloy product comprising carbon, tungsten and chromium with very good mechanical and thermal properties as well as a method of preparing the 3D-printed product and a powder alloy. The alloy has a high carbon content leading to high carbide content but small and evenly distributed carbides. A method facilitating 3D printing of high carbide content alloys such as the present alloy is also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a 3D-printed cobalt-based alloy product comprising carbon, tungsten and chromium with very good mechanical and thermal properties as well as a method of preparing the 3D-printed product and a powder alloy. The alloy has a high carbon content leading to high carbide content but small and evenly distributed carbides. A method facilitating 3D printing of high carbide content alloys such as the present alloy is also disclosed.
METHOD FOR PRODUCING ADDITIVELY-MANUFACTURED ARTICLE, AND ADDITIVELY-MANUFACTURED ARTICLE
A method for producing an additively-manufactured article includes: a step for feeding a powdered material onto a base metal, the powdered material being obtained by mixing a first powder containing a stellite alloy and a second powder containing tungsten carbide; a nd a step for irradiating the fed powdered material with a laser beam while weaving the lase r beam, and depositing a cladding layer, obtained by melting and solidifying at least the pow dered material, on the base metal. The step for depositing the cladding layer is performed such that 20≤A≤35, 2.2≤B≤2.9, and 5 mass%≤R2≤15 mass% are satisfied, where A is a laser heat input index, B is a powder feeding rate index, and R2 is the ratio of the second powder contained in the powdered material.
COMPOSITE STRUCTURE WITH ALUMINUM-BASED ALLOY LAYER CONTAINING BORON CARBIDE AND MANUFACTURING METHOD THEREOF
A composite structure with an aluminum-based alloy layer containing boron carbide and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. The composite structure includes a substrate with an open hole in that surface and the aluminum-based alloy layer containing boron carbide. The aluminum-based alloy layer is disposed in the open hole and contains aluminum, boron, carbon, and oxygen, wherein the content of aluminum is between 4 at. % and 55 at. %, the content of boron is between 9 at. % and 32 at. %, the content of carbon is between 13 at. % and 32 at. %, the content of oxygen is between 2 at. % and 38 at. %, and the ratio of the content of boron to carbon is between 0.3 and 2.7.
COATING MATERIAL OF KILN FOR PRODUCTION OF ACTIVE MATERIAL AND KILN COMPRISING SAME
Disclosed is a coating material for coating a surface of a kiln for preparing an active material, the coating material being represented by the following Formula 1:
Ni.sub.aX.sub.z (1) wherein an equation of a+z=1 is satisfied, with the proviso that 0.2≤a<1.0 and 0<z≤0.8 are satisfied, and X is at least one element selected from the group consisting of W, Cr, Co, Fe, Cu, Na, Al, Mg, Si, Zn, K, Ti, Mo, N, B, P, C, Ta, Nb, O, Mn, Sn, Ag and Zr, or an alloy or compound of two or more elements selected therefrom.
Multicomponent alloy coating
A multicomponent alloy coating is provided. The multicomponent alloy coating includes a hard layer and a plurality of nickel-based particles dispersed in the hard layer. The composition of the multicomponent alloy coating is represented by the following formula (I):
Al.sub.dCo.sub.eCr.sub.gFe.sub.hNi.sub.iSi.sub.jC.sub.kO.sub.m formula (I), wherein 1<d<2, 0.5<e<0.8, 2<g<3.2, 0.05<h<0.3, 2<i<3, j=1, k≥0, m≥0, and iron is present in the amount of less than 3 wt % of the composition of the multicomponent alloy coating.

The present invention relates to the composition and production of an engineered degradable metal matrix composite that is useful in constructing temporary systems requiring wear resistance, high hardness, and/or high resistance to deformation in water-bearing applications such as, but not limited to, oil and gas completion operations.
