A process for depositing a coating on short fibres of carbon or silicon carbide from a coating precursor, the short fibres having a length of between 50 μm and 5 mm, the process including at least heating the short fibres by placing a mixture including the fibres and a liquid phase of the coating precursor in a microwave field so as to bring the surface of the fibres to a temperature allowing the coating on the fibres from the coating precursor to be formed by calefaction.

A print head comprising nested chambers for in-situ reactant formation is disclosed. The print head comprises a first chamber nested within a second chamber. The first chamber comprises a first nozzle, the second chamber comprises a second nozzle. The first nozzle is substantially coaxial with the second nozzle. A susceptor to convert electromagnetic energy to heat is within the first chamber. The susceptor comprises one or more openings extending between the upper portion and the lower portion. The susceptor may be heated by induction heating or by optical heating to vaporize a precursor substance within the first chamber. The vapor may react with a reactive gas flowing through the first chamber or expand through a nozzle into a second chamber where the vapor may react with the reactive gas, forming nanoparticles. Patterned films may be written onto a two-dimensional or three-dimensional surfaces.

Method Of Forming A Halide-Containing Perovskite Film

A hybrid halide perovskite film and methods of forming a hybrid halide perovskite film on a substrate are described. The film is formed on the substrate by depositing an organic solution on a substrate, heating the substrate and the organic solution to form an organic layer on the substrate, depositing an inorganic layer on the organic layer, and heating the substrate having the inorganic layer thereon to form a hybrid halide perovskite film. In some embodiments, the hybrid halide perovskite film comprises a CH[NH.sub.2].sub.2.sup.+MX.sub.3 compound, where M is selected from the group consisting of Sn, Pb, Bi, Mg and Mn, and where X is selected from the group consisting of I, Br and Cl. In other embodiments, the hybrid halide perovskite film comprises a FAMX.sub.3 compound. Methods of forming a piezoelectric device are also disclosed.

A process of making an electrochromic or an electrolytic film by Ultrasonic Spray Pyrolysis (USP) deposition on a substrate comprising: mixing a surfactant to an aqueous precursor solution comprising an electrochromic component or an electrolytic component to provide a spray solution; introducing the spray solution into an ultrasonic spray deposition nozzle at a constant flow rate between 0.1 mL/min and 2 mL/min and applying an ultrasonic frequency between 80 and 120 kHz to generate atomized droplets of the precursor solution; entraining the atomized droplets with a controlled jet of air as gas carrier at a pressure between 0.50 to 2.0 psi, onto a pre-heated substrate at a temperature of 200 to 450° C.; thermally converting the atomized droplets when depositing onto the pre-heated substrate to generate an electrochromic or an electrolytic film.
