Restoration coating system and method
A coated component of a gas turbine engine includes a substrate defining a surface, a thermal barrier coating deposited on the surface of the substrate, a region of the component where the thermal barrier coating has spalled from the substrate, a layer of environmental contaminant compositions formed on one or more of the thermal barrier coating or the region of the component where the thermal barrier coating has spalled from the substrate in response to an initial exposure of the component to high operating temperatures of the gas turbine engine, and a thermal barrier coating (TBC) restoration coating deposited at least on the region of the component where there thermal barrier coating has spalled from the substrate.
Flat steel product with an AI-coating, method for producing the same, steel component and method for producing the same
A flat steel product for hot forming may be produced from a steel substrate that includes a steel comprising 0.1-3% by weight Mn and up to 0.01% by weight B, along with a protective coating that is applied to the steel substrate. The protective coating may be based on Al and may contain up to 20% by weight of other alloy elements. Also disclosed are methods for producing such flat steel products, steel components, and methods for producing steel components. Absorption of hydrogen is minimized during heating necessary for hot forming. This is achieved at least in part through an alloy constituent of 0.1-0.5% by weight of at least one alkaline earth or transition metal in the protective coating, wherein an oxide of the alkaline earth or transition metal is formed on an outer surface of the protective coating during hot forming of the flat steel product.
Method for producing coated metallic substrates and coated metallic substrates
The present disclosure relates to coated non-metallic substrates and coated metallic substrates, and methods for producing such coated substrates. A variant of the method is characterized in that a mat or glossy coating is underneath a metallic layer obtained in some cases by way of vapor deposition and/or sputtering. In another variant, the metallic is sufficiently thin so that it remains transparent or translucent to visible light. The coated substrates may include multiple layers such as metallic layers, polysiloxane layers, a color layer, a conversion layer, a primer layer, and/or a transparent or colored layer. An application system for applying a metallic layer to at least one surface of a substrate may include a plasma generator and/or a corona system for treating one or more layers by plasma treatment and/or corona treatment.
Sliding member
To provide a sliding member, such as a piston ring for an internal combustion engine, having low friction and excellent toughness. The above-described problem is solved by a sliding member (10) such as a piston ring coated with a Cr—B—Ti—V—(Mn, Mo)—N-based alloy film (2) on a sliding surface (11) thereof, and configured so that the alloy film (2) contains one or both of Mn and Mo and has a total content of the Mn and the Mo within a range of 2 mass % or less. Preferably, a B content is within a range of 0.1 mass % to 1.5 mass %, inclusive, a V content is within a range of 0.05 mass % to 1 mass %, inclusive, and a Ti content is within a range of 0.05 mass % to 1.5 mass %, inclusive.

A highly corrosion-resistant plated steel sheet comprises a base steel sheet and a plated layer, which sequentially comprises an Fe—Al alloy layer and an MgZn.sub.2 layer from an interface with the base steel sheet.
Methods for forming vertically cracked thermal barrier coatings and articles including vertically cracked thermal barrier coatings
A method for forming a vertically cracked thermal barrier coating is disclosed including positioning an article relative to a heat source. The article includes a thermal barrier coating disposed on a first surface of a substrate, and the substrate includes a second surface distal across the substrate from the first surface. Heat is applied locally to at least one discrete portion of the second surface of the substrate. At least one vertical crack in the thermal barrier coating is formed disposed over the at least one discrete portion. An article is disclosed including a substrate and a vertically-cracked thermal barrier coating disposed on the substrate. The vertically cracked thermal barrier coating includes at least one vertical crack in the thermal barrier coating and at least one of a low density of less than 85% of a theoretical density for the thermal barrier coating and a selective crack distribution.
Method for Producing a Coating
The invention relates to a method of forming a coating for deposition to non-metallic surfaces, comprising the steps of applying (120) a semiconductor material to a substrate to form a semiconductor material layer and simultaneously or subsequently applying (140) metallic material or additional semiconductor material, wherein the metallic material or additional semiconductor material is introduced into the semiconductor material layer in a targeted manner to tailor the optical properties of the coating.

A Sn-based plated steel sheet of the present invention includes: a steel sheet; a Sn-based plating layer located on at least one surface of the steel sheet; and a coating layer located on the Sn-based plating layer, wherein: the Sn-based plating layer contains 0.10 to 15.00 g/m.sup.2 of Sn per side in terms of metal Sn; the coating layer contains a Zr oxide and a Mn oxide; a content of the Zr oxide is 0.20 to 50.00 mg/m.sup.2 per side in terms of metal Zr; a content of the Mn oxide in terms of metal Mn is 0.01 to 0.50 times on a mass basis relative to the content of the Zr oxide in terms of metal Zr; and a depth position A where an element concentration of Mn is maximum is located on a side closer to a surface of the coating layer than a depth position B where an element concentration of Zr is maximum, and a distance in a depth direction between the depth position A and the depth position B is 2 nm or more in an element analysis in the depth direction by XPS.
