LAYER SYSTEM, FLOW FIELD PLATE HAVING A LAYER SYSTEM OF THIS TYPE, AND FUEL CELL, ELECTROLYZER OR REDOX FLOW CELL
A layer system for coating a metal substrate in order to form a flow field plate includes at least one cover layer made of metal oxide; at least one intermediate layer, which supports the cover layer; and a lower layer, which supports the intermediate layer(s). The cover layer is formed of indium tin oxide; wherein the indium tin oxide is optionally doped with at least one element from the group comprising carbon, nitrogen, boron, fluorine, hydrogen, silicon, titanium, tin and zirconium. At least one intermediate layer is formed of titanium nitride and/or titanium carbide and/or titanium carbonitride and/or titanium niobium nitride and/or titanium niobium carbide and/or titanium niobium carbonitride and/or chromium nitride and/or chromium carbide and/or chromium carbonitride. The lower layer is formed of titanium or a titanium-niobium alloy or chromium.
Coated steel sheet and painted member
A coated steel sheet has a coating film on at least one side of a plated steel sheet. The coating film contains a binder resin, non-oxide ceramic particles containing V (excluding VC particles), and doped zinc oxide particles. The respective contents of the non-oxide ceramic particles containing V and the doped zinc oxide particles relative to the coating film satisfy the expressions: [(1) C.sub.Zn≥10.0, (2) C.sub.V≤0.5.Math.C.sub.Zn, (3) C.sub.V≤70−C.sub.Zn, (4) C.sub.V≥0.125.Math.C.sub.Zn, and (5) C.sub.V≥2.0], where C.sub.V represents the content (mass %) of the non-oxide ceramic particles containing V, and C.sub.Zn represents the content (mass %) of the doped zinc oxide particles. The coated steel sheet is excellent in both corrosion resistance before electrodeposition coating, and weldability.
Systems and methods for welding zinc-coated workpieces
A welding system includes a welding power source configured to provide pulsed electropositive direct current (DCEP), a gas supply system configured to provide a shielding gas flow that is at least 90% argon (Ar), a welding wire feeder configured to provide tubular welding wire. The DCEP, the tubular welding wire, and the shielding gas flow are combined to form a weld deposit on a zinc-coated workpiece, wherein less than approximately 10 wt % of the tubular welding wire is converted to spatter while forming the weld deposit on the zinc-coated workpiece.
Sliding member
To provide a sliding member, such as a piston ring for an internal combustion engine, having low friction and excellent toughness. The above-described problem is solved by a sliding member (10) such as a piston ring coated with a Cr—B—Ti—V—(Mn, Mo)—N-based alloy film (2) on a sliding surface (11) thereof, and configured so that the alloy film (2) contains one or both of Mn and Mo and has a total content of the Mn and the Mo within a range of 2 mass % or less. Preferably, a B content is within a range of 0.1 mass % to 1.5 mass %, inclusive, a V content is within a range of 0.05 mass % to 1 mass %, inclusive, and a Ti content is within a range of 0.05 mass % to 1.5 mass %, inclusive.
Environmental barrier coating with oxygen-scavenging particles having barrier shell
A gas turbine engine article includes a substrate and an environmental barrier coating disposed on the substrate. The environmental barrier coating includes oxygen-scavenging particles. Each oxygen-scavenging particle includes a silicon-containing core particle encased in an oxygen barrier shell.
ANTI-MICROBIAL COATING PHYSICAL VAPOR DEPOSITION SUCH AS CATHODIC ARC EVAPORATION
A bioactive coated substrate includes a base substrate, a first interlayer disposed over the base substrate, an outermost bioactive layer disposed on the first interlayer, and a topcoat layer disposed on the outermost bioactive layer. Characteristically, a plurality of microscopic openings extending through the topcoat layer and the outermost bioactive layer expose the first interlayer and the outermost bioactive layer. A method for forming the bioactive coated substrate is also provided.

The present disclosure appropriately shortens a processing step for processing a substrate in which a silicon layer and a silicon germanium layer are alternatively laminated. The present disclosure provides a substrate processing method of processing the substrate in which the silicon layer and the silicon germanium layer are alternatively laminated, which includes forming an oxide film by selectively modifying a surface layer of an exposed surface of the silicon germanium layer by using a processing gas including fluorine and oxygen and converted into plasma.
Painted steel sheet provided with a zinc coating
A steel sheet is provided with a coating having at least one layer of zinc and a top layer of paint applied by cataphoresis. The zinc layer is deposited by a jet vapor deposition process in a deposition chamber maintained at a pressure between 6.Math.10.sup.−2 mbar and 2.Math.10.sup.−1 mbar. A fabrication method and an installation are also provided.
METAL OXIDE RESIST PATTERNING WITH ELECTRICAL FIELD GUIDED POST-EXPOSURE BAKE
A method for processing a substrate is described. The method includes forming a metal containing resist layer onto a substrate, patterning the metal containing resist layer, and performing a post exposure bake on the metal containing resist layer. The post exposure bake on the metal containing resist layer is a field guided post exposure bake operation and includes the use of an electric field to guide the ions or charged species within the metal containing resist layer. The field guided post exposure bake operation may be paired with a post development field guided bake operation.
Composite panel comprising a perforated metallic foil for lightning strike protection and a perforated metallic foil
A composite panel having a plurality of carbon plies, a perforated metallic foil comprising several apertures and being directly secured to the plurality of carbon plies, and a protective layer made from resin reinforced with fibers which is secured to the metallic foil. The perforated metallic foil is embedded in the protective layer through its apertures. A free surface of the protective layer forms a top side of the composite panel. The thickness of the protective layer between the top side of the composite panel and the perforated metallic foil is at least 15 micrometers and the perforated metallic foil has a thickness of not more than 30 micrometers. The plurality of apertures in the aggregate defines an open area of not more than 40% of the surface area and a maximum distance between two opposed points in a perimeter of an aperture is equal to or less than 3 mm.
