Methods and Compositions for Acid Treatment of a Metal Surface
The invention relates to compositions and methods that are useful in etching a metal surface. In particular, the invention relates to novel acid compositions and methods of using such compositions in etching a metal surface, preferably an aluminum surface prior to anodizing to dissolve impurities, imperfections, scale, and oxide. The compositions are effective in maintaining their etching capacity and in removing smut produced by the etching of a surface as well as in general cleaning.
PICKLING PRODUCTION LINE AND APPLICATION THEREOF FOR MAGNESIUM ALLOY WASTE MATERIAL
A pickling production line comprises a material-holding apparatus, a pickling zone, and a water wash zone; the pickling zone and the water wash zone are independently arranged; the material-holding apparatus is filled with magnesium alloy waste, and self-rotates successively in the pickling zone and the water wash zone for pickling and water washing respectively. In the pickling production line for magnesium alloy waste material, the magnesium alloy waste material is pickled and washed more thoroughly; coatings and impurities on the surface of the magnesium alloy waste material are removed, the efficiency of the cleaning and the consistency of the cleaning are high, and each piece of equipment in the entire production line is connected in a compact manner; the invention has a high degree of automation, low environmental pollution, conserves resources, is highly efficient in production, and is suitable for the bulk pickling and cleaning of magnesium alloy waste material.

METHOD FOR PRETREATING MAGNESIUM-ALLOY WASTE MATERIAL
A method comprises sorting and removing impurities from magnesium alloy waste material, and cleaning and drying said material, the cleaning being high-pressure rinsing, pickling, and water washing, performed in sequence. The method employs high-pressure rinsing during the pretreatment of magnesium alloy waste material; the cleaning effectiveness is excellent, the effectiveness of the removal of impurities from the surface of the magnesium alloy waste material is much better than in conventional processes, and the amount of clean waste material can exceed 90% of the total amount of processed waste material; the clean magnesium alloy waste material obtained from the pretreatment method may be used as the entire raw materials for casting national-standard alloy ingots, the addition of costly high-purity magnesium is unnecessary, and the amount of alloy raw material that must be added is significantly reduced; during processing, little waste material is lost, costs are low, and efficiency is high.

The present invention relates to a method for the anti-corrosion treatment of components produced from aluminum, in particular casting parts such as vehicle rims, comprising a pretreatment stage and subsequent coating, wherein the pretreatment stage in turn includes a pickle on the basis of sulfuric acid aqueous solutions containing water-soluble compounds of the element Ti and at least one α-hydroxycarboxylic acid which is carried out upstream of an acidic conversion treatment on the basis of an acidic aqueous solution containing water-soluble compounds of the elements Zr and/or Ti.

Disclosed are metal articles and methods of making and processing such metal articles. More particularly, disclosed are aluminum alloy articles exhibiting controllable surface properties, including excellent bond durability. An aluminum alloy article as described herein includes a surface having a concentration of an alloying element, and a coating having a concentration of an element capable of interacting with the alloying element. Also disclosed herein are methods of providing metal articles having excellent bond durability.
METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING BOTTOMED CYLINDRICAL BODY
There is provided a method for manufacturing a bottomed cylindrical body, the method being capable of achieving both a conventional hard can manufacturing process such as drawing and ironing and reduction in the cost and the environmental load in a degreasing step. The method for manufacturing a bottomed cylindrical body includes a lubricant application step of applying liquid (lubricant) having a viscosity of lower than 200 mPa.Math.s to a surface of a metal plate, a drawing step of drawing the metal plate to which. the lubricant has been applied, with use of a forming member having a processing surface having a hardness of Hv 1000 to 12000, an ironing step of ironing, with use of another forming member having a processing surface having a hardness of Hv 1500 to 12000, a workpiece with a coolant interposed between the workpiece and the another forming member, to form a bottomed cylindrical body, and a degreasing step of degreasing oil on a surface of the bottomed cylindrical body with use of a cleaning agent. The concentration of oil contained in the coolant is lower than 4.0 percent by volume. The cleaning agent contains any one of sulfuric acid, hydrofluoric acid, potassium carbonate, sodium hydroxide, and potassium hydroxide. The temperature of the cleaning agent in the degreasing step is lower than 75° C.

The present application includes methods, apparatuses, and systems for cleaning an aluminum wheel. In particular instances, a method of treating an exterior surface of an aluminum vehicle wheel comprising: blasting the exterior surface a first occurrence for a first duration at a first velocity using blasting media; blasting the exterior surface a second occurrence for a second duration at a second velocity using blasting media after blasting the exterior surface for a first duration, the second velocity being substantially lower than the first velocity; and, arranging the vehicle wheel in contact with vibratory finishing media and vibrating the vehicle wheel with the vibratory finishing media for a duration after blasting the exterior surface in each of the first and second occurrences.
