SUSTAINABLE, FACILE SEPARATION OF THE MOLTEN CARBONATE ELECTROLYSIS CATHODE PRODUCT
A process for the separation of electrolyte from the carbon in a solid carbon/electrolyte cathode product formed at the cathode during molten carbonate electrolysis. The processes allow for easy separation of the solid carbon product from the electrolyte without any observed detrimental effect on the structure and/or stability of the resulting solid carbon nanomaterial.

ELECTRODE PRODUCTION METHOD
An electrode for electrolytic fluorination contains nickel as a base material with a fluorine content<1,000 ppm. Preferably, in at least a surface portion thereof, the nickel content>99 mass %, the iron content≤400 ppm, the copper content<250 ppm, and the manganese content<1,000 ppm. A method for producing an electrode includes arranging a nickel base material electrode in a nickel plating bath as a cathode, and applying nickel plating to the nickel base material electrode by electrolytic nickel plating, the method including (1) using, as an anode, a nickel component deposited on a cathode, or a nickel component that has settled in a molten salt, in a process of producing nitrogen trifluoride by molten salt electrolysis using a nickel base material anode, or the nickel base material anode; or (2) using, as the cathode, the nickel base material anode.
SYSTEMS AND METHODS FOR MAKING CARBON NANOSTRUCTURES
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and systems for providing an electrolysis reaction in a molten carbonate electrolyte to synthesize helical carbon nanostructures (HCNSs). The electrolyte, electrode composition, current density, temperature and additives all may have important roles in the formation of HCNS. With control of these parameters, a variety of specific, uniform high yield HCNS can be synthesized by molten carbonate electrolysis, according to embodiments of the present disclosure.
LIQUID METAL CATHODES FOR ELECTROLYSIS OF METAL CARBONATES IN MOLTEN SALTS
An electrolytic cell includes a liquid metal cathode, an anode, and a molten salt electrolyte in contact with the liquid metal cathode and the anode. The molten salt electrolyte includes carbonate ions, and the electrolytic cell is configured to reduce the carbonate ions at the surface of the cathode or in the vicinity of the cathode to yield a carbon material and oxide ions. Producing a carbon material in the electrolytic cell includes providing carbonate ions to the electrolytic cell, reducing the carbonate ions at the liquid metal cathode to yield the carbon material, and removing the carbon material from the electrolytic cell.
APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MAKING CARBANOGEL BUCKYPAPER FROM CARBON DIOXIDE AND PRODUCTS THEREOF
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to a process for making a carbanogel buckypaper product. Such carbanogel buckypaper product may be imparted with enhanced properties as compared to other buckypaper products. In some embodiments of the present disclosure, the carbanogel can be generated by an electrolysis process that can transform a carbon-containing gas into a carbon nanomaterial.

APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR MAKING A POLYMER-CARBON NANOMATERIAL ADMIXTURE FROM CARBON DIOXIDE AND MATERIALS AND PRODUCTS THEREOF
Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to an apparatus, system and method for making an admixture of a polymer and carbon nanomaterials (CNM). The admixture of such embodiments comprise about 10% or less by weight (wt %) of CNMs. The CNM content of such admixture may impart new or enhanced properties to the admix and to materials and products made therefrom. Such new or enhanced products may include enhanced tensile strength, new or enhanced electronic medical, structural thermal, catalytic properties or any combination thereof.
PROCESS FOR THE FACILE ELECTROSYNTHESIS OF GRAPHENE FROM CO2
The present invention relates to the production of graphene from CO.sub.2 through electrolysis and exfoliation processes. One embodiment is a method for producing graphene comprising (i) performing electrolysis between an electrolysis anode and an electrolysis cathode in a molten carbonate electrolyte to generate carbon nanomaterial on the cathode, and (ii) electrochemically exfoliating the carbon nanomaterial from a second anode to produce graphene. The exfoliating step produces graphene in high yield than thicker, conventional graphite exfoliation reactions. CO.sub.2 can be the sole reactant used to produce the valuable product as graphene. This can incentivize utilization of CO.sub.2, and unlike alternative products made from CO.sub.2 such as carbon monoxide or other fuels such as methane, use of the graphene product does not release this greenhouse gas back into the atmosphere.
APPARATUS, SYSTEM AND METHOD FOR DIRECT CAPTURE OF CARBON-CONTAINING GAS
The present disclosure relates to an apparatus, system and method for selectively capturing a carbon-containing gas from an input gas mixture.
