Provided are metallic sulfide coated travelers, particularly tungsten disulfide coated travelers, methods of forming metallic sulfide coated travelers, and systems for use of metallic sulfide coated travelers. The metallic sulfide coating results in reduced yarn loading on the coated travelers, reduced heat generation during the spinning operation, and reduced wear of the traveler.

A yarn spinning and/or twisting machine with multiple balls, comprising a yarn-feeding means (1), a yarn collection means for the yarn (4) with a rotation axis (V), a yarn guide (8) located between the yarn-feeding means (1) and the yarn collection means (4), means for the generation of the diameter of the ball (DB), motorised means linked to the yarn collection means (4), where the internal diameter of the yarn guide (8) is greater than the diameter of standard yarn guides (8) for each type of yarn, and smaller than 1.1 times the diameter of the ball generator (DB). Preferably, the internal diameter of the yarn guide (8) is between 0.01 and 0.9 times the diameter of the ball generator (DB). Preferably, the yarn spinning and/or twisting machine comprises several yarn guides (8, 8, 8), at least one of these with an internal diameter greater than the diameter of the standard yarn guide (8) for each type of yarn and smaller than 1.1 times the diameter of the ball generator (DB).

The invention relates to a ring traveler (10) for ring spinning or ring twisting machines having a metallic core, wherein the metallic core is at least partially coated with an anti-friction coating consisting of at least a base polymer and a solid lubricant, whereby the anti-friction coating has a layer thickness of 0.1 m to 50 m and the base polymer is from the group of polyamides, polyimides, polyamide/imides.

A spinning ring for a ring-spinning or ring-twisting machine includes a web and a ring crown, the ring crown having a contact surface along which a ring traveler slides in operation of the ring-spinning or ring-twisting machine. At least the contact surface of the ring crown formed of a tungsten sintered material having at least 90% tungsten. A ring/traveler system using the spinning ring includes a ring traveler made of a wire made of high-speed steel (HSS) having a minimum hardness of 60 HRC.
