Two-layer multi-strand cable with improved penetrability

A cord (50) comprises: an internal strand (TI) comprising internal layer (C1) of Q=1 internal wire (F1), an intermediate layer (C2) of M intermediate wires (F2) wound around the internal layer (C1) with a pitch p2, an external layer (C3) of N external wires (F3) wound around the intermediate layer (C2) with a pitch p3; and L>1 external strands (TE) comprising an internal layer (C1′), an external layer (C3′). The external layer (CE) of the cord is wound around the internal layer (CI) of the cord in a direction of winding of the cord (50). Each external layer (C3, C3′) of each internal and external strand (TI, TE) is wound in the same direction of winding that is the opposite to the direction of winding of the cord (50). The external layer (CE) of the cord (50) is desaturated, and 0.36≤(p3−p2)/p3≤0.57.

A steel cord (10) for rubber article reinforcement includes: a single core strand (11) having a layer-twisted structure; and plural sheath strands (12) each having a layer-twisted structure, and the sheath strands (12) are twisted around the core strand (11). In the sheath strands (12), a ratio between the diameter of a core filament (12a) and the diameter of a sheath filament (12b) is 0.75 to 0.85, and a ratio between the strength of the core filament (12a) and the strength of the sheath filament (12b) is 0.55 to 0.7.

Pneumatic Tire for a Vehicle

Pneumatic vehicle tire of radial type of construction, in particular a commercial vehicle tire, having a belt assembly (3) made up of at least three plies (8, 9, 10), namely two working plies (8, 9) and a protective ply (10) arranged radially on the outside with respect to the working plies (8, 9), wherein the protective ply (10) has reinforcing members (11) made up of one or more twisted-together steel filaments (12), wherein the steel of the steel filaments (12) of the reinforcing members (11) of the protective ply (10) can be assigned to the strength class ST or to a higher strength class, wherein the strength class ST has a tensile strength in MPa of 3980-2000 d and the strength class UT has a tensile strength in MPa of 4400-2000 d, wherein d is the diameter of a steel filament in mm.

STRANDING MACHINE

A stranding machine is provided for producing a cord from a plurality of wires, preferably metal wires. The stranding machine has a stranding device for stranding the wires, including at least one rotatably mounted deflecting roller for deflecting the cord and at least one guide device for guiding the cord. The guide device is arranged in such a way that the cord can be guided on a straight line from the guide device to the deflecting roller in such a way that the cord is pressed against a first flank of the deflecting roller. As the cord is deflected by the deflecting roller, the cord moves from the first flank into the roller base of the deflecting roller.

HIGH-STRENGTH FIBER COMPOSITE CABLE

A high-strength fiber bundle sufficiently impregnated with a thermoplastic resin, without impairing mechanical strength. A high-strength fiber composite cable is produced by impregnating a bundle of carbon fibers with a matrix resin. The matrix resin is obtained by mixing, with a thermoplastic resin, such as polyphenylene sulfide, an oligomer having a weight-average molecular weight of less than 10,000, obtained by causing a reaction between an organic compound having a phenolic hydroxyl group and an organic compound having a glycidyl ether group. The matrix resin, which has a viscosity low in comparison with that of the thermoplastic resin serving as a base material, readily impregnates the bundle of carbon fibers with certainty.
