The invention relates to a sensor device for insertion and for measuring tension within a braided, plaited and/or laid line. The sensor device comprises an elongated sensor housing having an outer housing surface and an inner housing surface and at least one pressure sensor arranged inside the elongated sensor housing. The outer housing surface having a substantially elliptic or circular cross sectional area around the longitudinal axis of the sensor housing. Further, the at least one pressure sensor is configured to allow measurement, at least indirectly, of a pressure exerted on the outer housing surface. The invention also relates to a line sensor assembly for mooring of one or more structures, and a method of adjusting the tension in a line sensor assembly and the use of a line sensor assembly.

A method of manufacturing an escalator handrail which has a composite material including a metallic steel wire and a thermoplastic resin, said metallic steel wire having a center elemental wire and a plurality of strands placed so as to surround the center elemental wire, including: a preheating step of heating the metallic steel wire; a composite-material forming step of integrating the metallic steel wire heated in the preheating step with the thermoplastic resin in a molten state to thereby form the composite material; and a cooling step of cooling the composite material formed in the composite-material forming step.
Twisting method and installation with tension control for the production of reinforcing cords for tires
The method for producing a wire element by interlacing at least a first strand and a second strand, during which strand tension control is effected by includes defining an assembly tension set point representative of a state of longitudinal tension to be obtained in the first strand when said first strand reaches the assembly point. The method also includes measuring the actual assembly tension applied in the first strand, said measurement being taken at a first tension measurement point located along the first strand and upstream of the assembly point. The method proceeds with operating a tension regulating member such as a capstan, which acts on the first strand upstream of the assembly point such as to cause the actual assembly tension within said first strand to converge automatically towards the assembly tension set point.

In a method of manufacturing a rubber coated twisted wire cord, when an outer circumferential surface of a twisted wire cord that is moving from an unreeling unit to a winding unit is coated with unvulcanized rubber extruded by a rubber extruder, by a coating unit disposed between the unreeling unit and a winding unit, in a state of additional tension being imparted on the moving twisted wire cord by a tension imparting unit disposed at a nearby position on an upstream side from the coating unit in a moving direction of the twisted wire cord, the unvulcanized rubber coats the outer circumferential surface of the twisted wire cord in this state to continuously manufacture a rubber coated twisted wire cord.
LINEAR MEDIA HANDLING SYSTEM AND DEVICES PRODUCED USING THE SAME
An improved system for handling delicate linear media and in particular to a method and apparatus for winding delicate linear media such as superconducting wire or tape or optical fibers onto a spool or former. A combination of direct closed loop control and media routing design facilitates the handling of the delicate media without causing damage. The axial tension in the linear media may be closely controlled during winding by means of feedback control loop using tension measurements to control the rotation speeds of the wind-from and wind-to spools. Further, during winding, the delicate linear media is only exposed to large radius bends with no reverse bending. Finally, output devices and features, commercial or otherwise, made possible by delicate linear media handling are revealed. This includes advanced SC devices and features.
