The heat sealable paper-based substrate can be used to make articles to contain goods such as cold or hot beverages or food products.
A PROCESS FOR PRODUCING A PACKAGING MATERIAL
The invention discloses a method for producing a packaging material and a packaging material suitable for packaging of food and/or liquid. In the method of the invention a first barrier layer, and an optional second barrier layer, is applied on a first side of a paperboard web. The thereby formed barrier coated web is at least partly dried in a first drying step, whereupon an extruded layer is applied onto the partly dried barrier coated web in a second coating step. In accordance with the invention, the first and second coating steps are applied integrated within the same coating line. The application of a first barrier layer and an extrusion coated layer in the same coating line in accordance with the invention has shown to give rise to a packaging material with remarkably good barrier properties, especially gas-, liquid and/or grease barrier properties, for the packaging of food and/or liquid.
Barrier coating composition, sheet-like product and its use
A barrier coating composition is disclosed including 30-70 weight-% of a styrene (meth)acrylate copolymer, polymerised in the presence of a stabiliser, and the styrene (meth)acrylate copolymer having a glass transition temperature Tg≤20° C., preferably ≤10° C., 30-70 weight-% of a polyvinyl alcohol, and at most 5.0 weight-% of a cross-linker, reacting with —OH or —COOH groups. Further disclosed is a sheet-like product coated with the coating composition.
Fiber body forming method and sheet
A fiber body forming method includes a step of defibrating a raw material containing fibers to form a defibrated material; a step of depositing the defibrated material to form a web; a step of applying a liquid containing a thermoplastic resin which binds the fibers to the web; and a step of heating the web to which the liquid is applied to form a fiber body, and in the method described above, the fiber body has a storage elastic modulus of 600 MPa or more at 100° C. and a storage elastic modulus of 400 MPa or more at 150° C.
Paperboard for packaging of liquid and/or frozen food
The present invention discloses a paperboard for packaging of liquid and frozen food, comprising a dispersion coating as the only barrier layer on its outside/print side. It has surprisingly been found that a dispersion coating comprising latex and pigment applied on the outside/print side of a paperboard for liquid and/or frozen food may serve as the only barrier against moisture arising from condensation.
