Method of milling minerals in the presence of a poly (itaconate)
The invention relates to a method for producing particles of mineral material comprising grinding of at least one mineral material in the presence of water. The grinding according to the invention is carried out in the presence of at least one polymer obtained by a radical polymerization reaction of a partial sodium salt of itaconic acid and partial decarboxylation of the polymer obtained followed by partial or total neutralization of the decarboxylated polymer. The invention also relates to an aqueous composition comprising particles of ground mineral material and such a polymer, in particular a mass-loading composition for the production of paper or a paper-coating-colour composition.

COATING FOR REDUCING OIL ABSORBENCY OF CELLULOSIC WEBS
A method for reducing the surface oil absorption of cellulose based substrate is provided, in which a coating composition is applied to said substrate; and in which the coating composition comprises carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC) and/or a salt of carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC). A coated paperboard, and a laminate of the coated paperboard with a polymer layer is also provided. The coating composition provides improved surface oil absorption and improved adherence of an overlying polymer layer.
OIL/GREASE RESISTANT PAPER PRODUCTS
Oil and grease resistant paper products are disclosed that include a substrate and, on at least one side of the substrate, a continuous layer of a barrier coating, the barrier coating comprising a binder system and a pigment. The barrier coating, when applied to the substrate and dried to form a barrier layer, has a Pigment Volume Concentration (PVC) that is below a Critical Pigment Volume Concentration (CPVC) of the barrier coating, providing a continuous three-dimensional film of the binder system. In some implementations the binder system comprising a latex and a natural binder and/or the paper product further includes a topcoat disposed on a side of the barrier coating opposite the substrate.

GAS BARRIER FILM FOR PACKAGING MATERIAL
The present invention relates to a gas barrier film for a paper or paperboard based packaging material, said gas barrier film comprising: a microfibrillated cellulose layer (MFC layer), at least one surface of which has been metallized; and a polymer dispersion coating layer disposed on at least one surface of the MFC layer. The present invention further relates to a paper or paperboard based packaging material, containers and carton blanks comprising the gas barrier film, and to a method for manufacturing the gas barrier film.
Impregnate with antistatic properties
An impregnate with antistatic properties for use in laminates or for coating wood-based panels is disclosed. A resin used for impregnating and/or coating paper may include carbon-based particles, at least one compound of the general formula (Ia) R.sup.1.sub.aSiX.sub.(4-a), R.sup.3.sub.cSiX.sub.(4-c) (II), and inorganic particles. X is methoxy, ethoxy, n-propoxy or i-propoxy. R.sup.1 is an organic radical selected from the group including methyl, ethyl, propyl, or vinyl, and has at least one functional group Q.sub.1, selected from the group including acrylic, acryloxy, methacrylic, methacyloxy, or epoxy. R.sup.3 is a non-hydrolyzable organic radical selected from the group including C1-C10 alky, C6-10 aryl, wherein C is 1, 2, or 3, and the inorganic particles have a size between 2 nm and 400 nm.
Water, grease and heat resistant bio-based products and method of making same
The present disclosure provides a stable aqueous composition comprising an aqueous component, a hydrophobic complex comprised of a multivalent metal salt complexed with nanocellulose fibers and lignin, with the composition exhibiting a viscosity sufficient to prevent coalescing and settling of the hydrophobic complex in the aqueous component. The composition may be used to coat surfaces of articles to produce a hydrophobic surface. Once applied to the surface, the aqueous coating is spread to form a wet film covering the surface and is then dewatered and dried to produce a dried hydrophobic coating.
