A jack-up platform is described having a horizontal working deck that may be jacked up out of the water by moving its legs to a position wherein they take support on an underwater bottom. The jack-up platform further comprises a mooring system for mooring a floating vessel at a mooring side of the jack-up platform. The mooring system comprises an elongated support means for supporting a hull part of the floating vessel, and guiding means connected to the hull of the jack-up platform at the mooring side. The guiding means are able to rigidly hold the elongated support means in a support position, in which the elongated support means is within reach of the hull part of the floating vessel to be supported when the hull is jacked out of the water and the jack-up platform rests on its legs. A method for mooring a floating vessel using the jack-up platform is also described.

Foundation for a structure

A foundation (1) for a structure such as an off-shore wind turbine. The foundation (1) comprises a body (4) having a lateral surface (8,9) and a distal end (5) for insertion into a soil (2). At least a region of the lateral surface (8,9) forms a first electrode. A second electrode (7) is provided on the lateral surface (8,9) of the body (4) and is electrically insulated from the first electrode. The body (4) further comprises a spacing formation (6) for forming a gap (11) between the second electrode (7) and the soil (2) when the body (4) is inserted into the soil (2). In use, an electric potential may be established between the electrodes to induce electro-osmosis in the soil for allowing the foundation to be installed more easily. The polarity of the electric potential may also be reversed for stabilising the foundation.

The present disclosure generally relates to movable offshore platforms for installing wind turbines, and methods of forming the same. The movable offshore platforms are offshore platforms which were previously used in hydrocarbon production, such as jack-up units. The movable offshore platforms may be decommissioned and retrofitted with equipment for installing wind turbines. The movable offshore platforms may be American-made or otherwise Jones Act compliant. Methods of forming the same are also included.

Going on location feasibility

Techniques and devices to assist an offshore unit in going on location and coming off location. A device may include an interface configured to receive a signal indicative of motions of an offshore unit. The device may also include a memory configured to store a set of values corresponding to acceptable motions of the offshore unit, as well as a processor configured to determine if a measured motion of the offshore unit exceeds at least one value of the set of values and generate an indication that going on location by the offshore unit can be undertaken when the processor determines that the measured motion of the offshore unit is less than or equal to the at least one value.
