SMART SYSTEM FOR MANHOLE EVENT SUPPRESSION SYSTEM
A system including a processor and sensor for installation inside an underground vault. The sensor monitors a parameter inside the vault and sends a monitoring signal to the processor. Based on the monitoring signal, the processor may provide data to a memory for storage and/or control signals to an interface for transmission to an external device located within the vault. The control signals instruct the external device to modify the environment inside the vault. The sensor may be positioned inside an enclosure, which is inside a housing. An air moving device moves air into or out of the enclosure thereby drawing air from the vault into the enclosure before the sensor monitors the parameter. A heat generating component may be positioned inside the housing and when generating heat prevents moisture from condensing therein. The system may include a power unit that draws power from a power source inside the vault.

VENTED PRECIPITATION GUARDING MANHOLE COVER ASSEMBLY
A valve assembly for use with and extending from an underside of a vented manhole cover assembly. The valve assembly is operable between an open position, to enable gas to exit from the manhole, and a closed position, to prevent the flow of the fluid into the manhole. The valve assembly includes a valve body having a first opening and a second opening and a fluid passage extending between the first and second openings. The valve assembly further includes a drain hole extending through the valve body configured to allow fluid drain therethrough. The valve assembly also includes a valve member moveable between the open position and the closed position, such that in response to the fluid entering through the first opening, the valve member moves from the open position to the closed position to prevent the flow of the fluid into the manhole, and wherein in response to fluid draining through the drain hole, the valve member moves from the closed position to the open position.
Manhole cover
A manhole assembly includes a manhole cover and a manhole frame. The manhole cover is received on the manhole frame. A latch bolt attached to the manhole cover is movable between a latched position and a removal position. The latch bolt is biased toward the latched position by a spring. A security bolt received in the manhole cover is movable between a locked position wherein the security bolt engages the latch bolt to lock the latch bolt in the latched position and a removal position wherein the security bolt is disengaged from the latch bolt. An extraction tool is inserted through the manhole cover to remove the manhole cover from the manhole frame. The extraction tool engages a driven cam surface on the latch bolt to drive the latch bolt against a biasing force of the spring to move the latch bolt to the removal position.
SEL-REPORTING MONITOR FOR INTEGRITY AND CONDITIONS OF MANHOLE COVER
A monitor for monitoring the conditions of and around and under a manhole cover senses current conditions of the manhole cover and enables wireless self-reporting of such conditions at intervals and upon certain emergency situations arising. The monitor of the manhole cover includes a shell, a cover plate, and a base. The cover plate is detachably assembled with the shell. The base connects the shell with the manhole cover. The base includes a magnet to which the manhole cover is strongly attracted. The monitor is held to the manhole cover by the magnet. A mounting operation of the monitor is simple, requiring only placement by hand, and a mounting time is saved.

VENTED PRECIPITATION GUARDING MANHOLE COVER ASSEMBLY
A vented precipitation guarding manhole cover assembly, comprising: a manhole cover having a top exterior surface and a bottom interior surface; a vent opening extending through the manhole cover between the top and bottom surfaces; a valve assembly in fluid communication with the vent opening and extending from the bottom interior surface, the valve assembly configured to extend from the bottom interior surface at least partially inside the manhole, the valve assembly operable between an open position, to enable gas to exit from the manhole, and a closed position, to prevent the flow of fluid from the top exterior surface into the manhole.
DETECTING AND ALLEVIATING FLOODING AND BLOCKED STORM SEWERS
A device for detecting and alleviating flooding and blocked storm sewers includes a manhole cover coupled to a float body. The device also includes a canister having a drain hole and a valve. The device also includes multiple guides that can catch onto part of a sewer. The device is configured such that when water flows into the canister, the manhole cover, float body, and guides rise and the valve is opened.
Systems for circulating air inside a manhole vault
A system for circulating air inside a manhole vault. The system includes an air-moving device in fluid communication with the manhole vault and configured to circulate the air inside the manhole vault to prevent a concentration of combustible gasses or to enhance cooling therein.
Methods and systems for detecting manhole events
A system for use with a connection comprising a terminus opening into an underground vault. The system includes a perturbation detector and a system controller. The perturbation detector is configured to detect values of each of one or more properties and transmit a signal encoding the values to the system controller. The system controller is configured to receive the signal, use at least one of the values to determine whether a fire is occurring or has occurred, and alert a user when the system controller determines that the fire is occurring or has occurred.
