The invention relates to a thermal insulation product based on mineral wool comprising mineral fibers, the product comprising two main faces and longitudinal and transverse edges perpendicular to the main faces, the product being characterized by the following orientation fractions: a longitudinal orientation fraction greater than or equal to 48 %, or even 50 %, along an angle of more or less 6° with respect to the plane of the main faces, when the mineral fibers are counted only in a longitudinal cross-section, and a mean orientation fraction greater than or equal to 40 %, or even 45 %, along an angle of more or less 6° with respect to the plane of the main faces, when the mineral fibers are counted both in a transverse cross-section and in a longitudinal cross-section. The invention allows the insulating power of a thermal insulation product based on mineral wool to be improved without increasing its thickness.

FIBERGLASS INSULATION PRODUCT
20210172166 · 2021-06-10 ·

A fibrous insulation product having a plurality of randomly oriented glass fibers and a binder composition that holds the glass fibers together is disclosed. The fibrous insulation product has an R-value in the range of 10 to 54 and, after curing, has a density, when uncompressed, in the range of 0.30 pcf to 2.7 pcf. Furthermore, the fibrous insulation product includes glass fibers that, prior to the application of the binder composition, have an average fiber diameter of less than 15 HT a quantity of binder that is in the range of 2% to 10% by weight of the fibrous insulation product.

Tridirectional laid scrims for reinforcement purposes

A triaxial laid scrim includes a first, second and third set of continuous fibers. The fibers of each set are regularly spaced apart and are parallel to each other. The fibers of the first set are parallel to the warp direction or to the weft direction of the scrim. The fibers of the second set and the third set are oriented symmetrically to each other, respectively at an angle of 30°-80° with respect to the fibers of the first set. Distances between the fibers of the second set and the fibers of the third set are identical. The fibers of the second set cross the fibers of the third set at the intersection thereof with the fibers of the first set, thereby defining regular openings having an isosceles triangle shape. The fibers are coated and attached to each other by a coating that does not fill-up the triangle-shaped openings.

Fiber products having temperature control additives

A fiber product is described which includes fibers, a binder and a temperature control additive. The fiber product has properties that make it useful for a variety of applications. The fibers may be glass fibers and the product may be a fiberglass insulation product for use in buildings, vehicles, or other structures for acoustic and/or thermal insulation. The fibers may be cellulosic fibers and the product may be a wood board product. The temperature control additive is incorporated into the uncured fiber product to prevent deleterious self-heating during or after binder curing. The temperature control additive undergoes an endothermic process that consumes at least a portion of the energy generated during the exothermic curing reaction.
