Disclosed is a method for producing a structural element by joining together at least two separately produced parts where at least one part is made of concrete by cutting it from a volume of concrete and where all parts extend over the entire length of the structural element; a method for producing a staircase by joining together at least two separately produced staircase parts, which are cut from a volume of material and extend over the entire length of the staircase, and a structural element and a staircase which have been produced in this way.

The device can have: a base; a pivoting assembly; a molding template connected to the pivoting assembly; a holding device connected to the molding template, the holding device having a clamp jaw and a pivot configured to rotate the holding device relative to the molding template; and a locking mechanism configured to hold the molding template and the holding device in an open configuration such that the holding device can accept a first part of the plastic sheet and configured to release the molding template and the holding device such that the holding device is in a securing configuration that secures, via the clamp jaw, the first part of the plastic sheet to the first side of the molding template at the first longitudinal edge of the molding template. Methods for making the stair tread are described as well as the molded stair tread.

A temporary tread insert and method for installation in a stairway framework during building construction. The temporary tread insert includes an insert body having an upper tread surface, a bottom surface and opposed side surfaces. A front end of the insert body has a substantially bullnose shaped curved surface. The upper tread surface has a notched surface extending along the upper tread surface. Also disclosed is the method of inserting the temporary tread insert into the stair pan of a stairway framework, where the stair pan includes a bullnose at a front end of the stair pan, and the bullnose has a portion extending laterally a distance into the stair pan. The temporary tread insert includes a notched surface. The method includes positioning the temporary tread insert above a bottom of the pan, inserting the notched end of the temporary tread insert beneath the laterally extending portion of the bullnose, and moving the rear end of the temporary tread insert downward until the notched end of the temporary tread insert engages the underside of the portion extending laterally from the bullnose.
