20170269638 · 2017-09-21 ·

Embodiments of the present invention disclose a dual-part hinge assembly for a portable electronic device. According to one embodiment, the portable computing device includes a display and a base housing connected via the dual-part hinge assembly. Furthermore, the dual-part hinge assembly comprises a first portion and a second portion that extends behind the first portion when the display transitions to an open position so as to provide stability for the computing device.

Safety brake for vertical lifting doors

A vertical door system includes a safety brake that is engaged when the vertical door system fails. The safety brake includes a panel with a slanted channel and a pin slidably disposed in the slanted channel. The panel may be coupled to a counterweight that keeps the pin from engaging with stops in a track when the safety brake is disengaged. When the panel is uncoupled from the counterweight, the safety brake engages and the pin may slide in the channel to allow contact between a portion of the pin and one of the stops in the track to inhibit movement of a door.

Methods and systems for remote opening and monitoring of an access hatch

A system for remotely opening an access hatch of storage tank includes an elongate arm having a proximal end configured to be operatively coupled to a lid of the access hatch and a distal end extendable past an outer perimeter of the storage tank, and a pull cable attached to the arm at the distal end and being extendable toward a ground surrounding the storage tank. Pulling on the pull cable releases a latch that secures the lid to a base of the access hatch and allows the lid to pivot from a closed position to an open position.

A cooking appliance includes a housing incorporating a cooking chamber accessible via a chamber opening, and a door mounted adjacent the chamber opening and movable between a closed position and an open position relative to the chamber opening. A cam arm is connected to the door and extends within the housing, wherein the cam arm moves with the door. A counterweight is disposed within the housing and external of the cooking chamber, the counterweight mounted for movement along a set path. A portion of the cam arm is configured to movably interact with the counterweight such that the counterweight is raised when the door moves from the closed position to the open position.

Oven Door Assembly with Adjustable Center of Gravity

A door assembly for providing selective access to a chamber of an appliance includes adjustable balancing masses mounted to the door assembly to enable adjustment of the door assembly's center of gravity. Specifically, the door assembly includes one or more spring hinges attaching the door assembly to the appliance cabinet. Balancing mass are positioned on a mounting apparatus attached to the frame of the door assembly. To achieve an appropriate balance between the gravitational moment of the door assembly and the torsional stiffness of the spring hinges, the balancing masses may be adjusted on the mounting apparatus, thereby altering the center of gravity and gravitational moment generated by the door assembly to a predetermined amount appropriate for a given torsional stiffness of the spring hinge.

Vertical sliding element

The invention relates to a vertical sliding element including an element frame and a sash which can be moved in the vertical direction relative to the element frame. In the closed position of the sash, one fitting chamber each is formed in the intermediate spaces which are laterally limited by mutually facing side faces of the sash and the element frame. Each fitting chamber is provided with a guide rail and guide elements guided in the guide rail. The sash is connected to the guide elements via a scissors' arrangement having a plurality of parking scissors. The scissors arrangement is designed for parallel parking of the sash in a partially open position, in which the sash is positioned in front of an opening in the element frame, seen in the horizontal direction, and wherein the guide elements are designed to move the sash parked in parallel in the vertical direction by moving the guide elements in the guide rails.

A balance system used with a door of a cupboard comprises a transmission shaft, a first pulley on the transmission shaft, and a balance component. The first pulley is connected to a door belt, one end of the door belt is secured to the first pulley, and the other end of the belt is connected to the door. The balance component comprises a balancing member, a balancing belt and a second pulley on the transmission shaft. One end of the balancing belt is connected to the second pulley, and the other end of the balancing belt is connected to the balancing member, such that the balancing member is hung on the second pulley. The first pulley and the second pulley rotate synchronously, and the door belt and the balancing belt are wound oppositely. With the balance system, a small driving force can open/close the door.
