AMBIDEXTROUS HOLD OPEN HINGE

The present disclosure relates to an ambidextrous hinge. The ambidextrous hinge includes a first knuckle with a first engagement feature, a second knuckle with a second engagement feature, and a third knuckle movably coupled between the first knuckle and the second knuckle. The third knuckle includes a third engagement feature that engages the first engagement feature to cause the ambidextrous hinge to lock in a first open position when used as a first swing hinge. The third knuckle includes a fourth engagement feature that engages the second engagement feature to cause the ambidextrous hinge to lock in a second open position when used as a second swing hinge.

LOCKING HINGE

The current invention relates to the field of hinges, more specifically locking hinges. It is often desirable to automatically secure a door at a position, for example while loading or unloading a vehicle, but most hinges on the market are unable to secure the door automatically. The current invention solves this problem by incorporating a securing means within the barrel of the hinge itself that is capable of releasably securing an attached door along the axis of rotation. The principal use of the preferred embodiment is on a travel trailer, the hinge serving to secure an entry door while loading or unloading the trailer.

A hinge comprises a first body and a second body irremovably rotatably coupled along a rotational axis of the hinge. The first body and the second body comprise opposing radial bearing surfaces engaged only within a working rotational range of the hinge for fixing the relative position of the first body and the second body in a radial direction with respect to the rotational axis of the hinge. The first body and the second body further define opposing axial bearing surfaces engaged only within the working rotational range of the hinge for fixing the relative position of the first body and the second body in an axial direction with respect to the rotational axis of the hinge. The opposing radial bearing surfaces and the opposing axial bearing surfaces are not engaged outside of the working rotational range.

Door hinge

A door hinge comprising: a frame mount configured to be mounted to a door frame which is disposed about a doorway; and a door mount configured to be mounted to a door which is to selectively close off the doorway; wherein the door mount is pivotally connected to the frame mount about an axis of rotation, and further wherein the door hinge is configured such that when the frame mount is mounted to a door frame, and when the door mount is mounted to a door, the axis of rotation of the door hinge is disposed outwards of the point of attachment of the door hinge to the door frame, and laterally outboard of the doorway.

The invention relates to a door hinge (1) or window hinge (1) having two hinge parts (2,4) which are operatively connected to one another so as to be rotatable about a common hinge axis (2), wherein at least one door-or-window-side first hinge part (3) has a plate-like portion (8) which interacts in a fixedly and releasably connectable manner with a holding piece (9) which can be inserted into a groove in the end side of the door or window, wherein the plate-like portion (8) is oriented in an imaginary plane running parallel to the hinge axis (2) and is adjustable with respect to the holding piece (9) in an imaginary plane running at a right angle to the plane of the plate-like portion (8), and wherein an adjustment screw (11) can be screwed into at least one thread (1) of the holding piece (9). Provision is made for a head (12) of the adjustment screw (11) to be arranged between an intermediate piece (14) and the plate-like portion (8) by means of a clamping device (5) which applies to force to the plate-like portion (8) and the intermediate piece from opposite side and thus hold them together.

HINGE MOUNTING STRUCTURE

A hinge mounting structure is provided in which a door can open at a wide angle. In a hinge mounting structure including a hinge (1) having a first piece (3) and a second piece (4) that are coupled together via a shaft (2) in such a manner as to be rotatable relative to each other, the first piece (3) being mounted on a side jamb (6), the second piece (4) being mounted on an end face of a door (5), the side jamb (6) is provided with a protruding portion (8) protruding forward of a wall surface, and at least a part of the door (5) is backward of a front surface line (X), in an open position of the door (5).
