Vehicle control device, vehicle control method, and recording medium

A vehicle control device includes a power door control unit that: when a getting-off-intention of a user is recognized by a getting-off-intention recognizing unit, determines whether a door-opening-prohibition condition of a predetermined door is satisfied based on a surrounding situation of a vehicle recognized by a vehicle-surrounding-situation recognizing unit; and executes power-door-automatic-opening control, the power-door-automatic-opening control causing a power door to perform an opening operation when the door-opening-prohibition condition is not satisfied, the power-door-automatic-opening control prohibiting the opening operation of the power door when the door-opening-prohibition condition is satisfied.

Vehicle lighting system featuring object identification and threat level assessment

A lighting system of a vehicle is provided herein and includes an external lighting device, one or more sensors configured to detect an object approaching the vehicle, and a controller configured to identify the object and assess a threat level thereof based on input from the one or more sensors. If the controller determines that the object is high threat, the controller operates the external lighting device to produce an illumination sequence in the direction of the object.

An emergency vehicle door opening system includes a vehicle assembly with a body having an opening therein to allow passenger entry. The opening has a front edge, a rear edge, a top edge, and a bottom edge. A door is pivotally coupled to the body adjacent to the front edge and is positionable in a closed position closing the opening or in an open position exposing the opening. The door has an inner edge positioned adjacent to the front edge and an outer edge positioned opposite of the inner edge. An opening assembly is mounted on the vehicle assembly. The opening assembly is mounted on the vehicle and moves the door from an ajar position to a fully open position when the opening assembly is actuated. The outer edge of the door moves at a speed greater than 30 mph when the opening assembly moves the door.

Vehicle environment imaging systems and methods

A vehicle includes a vision system configured to output a signal indicative of exterior conditions in a vicinity of the vehicle and a temperature sensor configured to output a signal indicative of an interior temperature of the vehicle. The vehicle also includes a plurality of articulable openings arranged to allow fluid flow communication between an interior and an exterior of the vehicle. The vehicle further includes a controller programmed to adjust at least one articulable opening toward an open position in response to the interior temperature exceeding a temperature threshold. The controller is also programmed to adjust at least one articulable opening toward a closed position in response to detection via the vision system of a threat condition in the vicinity of the vehicle.
