Customizable window system for coastal weather protection
A window system for use in windows, sliding glass doors, skylights, casement windows and other openings in a building. The window system enables different windows of the same building to be individually customized for different impacts of coastal area weather and security concerns and also have the same external appearance despite employing various window protection steps. Panels, interior or exterior, are secured to the header and sill. Windows may be covered with exterior panels or include interior panels or impact resistant glass when the window is high on the building, or where security is a concern Windows including casement windows and other building penetrations may also accommodate interior panels, in combination with exterior protection. The window framing may have a uniform exterior appearance, notwithstanding different levels of protection.
FRAME ASSEMBLY
Systems and methods for providing a universal window frame assembly. A window frame assembly can include a plurality of frame members, wherein at least one of the frame members comprises a first profile frame member and at least one of the other frame members comprises a second profile frame member. The at least one first profile frame member and the at least one second profile frame member seat together to form the frame assembly. Head and side jamb members of a window frame can have a common first profile, and a sill jamb member can have a second profile. The frame members can be connected with corner keys configured to engage one or more openings in the first and second profiles. The sill jamb member can provide a sill slope angle.

PAINT MASK ASSEMBLY AND METHODS OF USE
Paint mask assemblies are described herein in various embodiments. A paint mask assembly includes a window portion having a removable mask affixed thereto. The paint mask assembly can be affixed over a mark on a surface so that the mark is visible through the window portion of the paint mask assembly. When the paint mask assembly is painted, the paint is applied over the removable mask, but the window portion remains unpainted. When the removable mask is removed, the mark remains visible through the window portion of the paint mask assembly.
Adaptable fenestration frame members and methods
Adaptable fenestration frame members, fenestration units using the frame members, and methods of adapting the fenestration frame members. The adaptable fenestration frame members provide a construction that is adaptable for use in both pocket and non-pocket installations by including an adaptation channel forming an outside corner along one edge of the fenestration frame member. Removal of the outside corner converts that portion of the frame member from an outside corner to an inside corner, thus adapting the frame member for use in a pocket installation.

RAIN SHIELD FOR SINGLE AND DOUBLE HUNG WINDOWS
A rain shield for an exterior architectural window may include a a generally rectangular-planar shield member. The shield may further include a pair of opposing panel members each having a clasp for engaging a window frame. The clasps may be hingedly joined to opposing sides of the shield member. Optionally, the shield member may be divided into inner and outer shield panels slideably engaging each other to form a width-adjustable structure.
Window protector device and method for making same
A window protector device and method is provided that includes a polycarbonate receptacle configured to be received in an outermost groove of a double-hung tilt-wash window frame, a multi-wall polycarbonate rectangular cuboid panel configured for being received in said receptacle via a two sided adhesive material, the device being coupled to double-hung tilt window sashes via buckled straps disposed in horizontally oriented slotted apertures with the straps sandwiched between the receptacle and the panel, with the ends of the straps extending outwardly from the panel for strapping onto the respective window sashes.
Sliding window assembly
A sliding window assembly (35) including a window frame and at least two glass panes (38, 39). At least one of the glass panes (38, 39) slides within the frame between an open position and a closed position, wherein one of the edges of each pane overlaps to form overlapping edges (42, 43). First and second rails (44, 45) are connected to the overlapping edges (42, 43) and cooperate to form a seal between them in the closed position. Each rail (44, 45) is formed from a metal component (46) and a plastic component (51) that are formed separate from each other and are assembled in nesting connection. The seal in the overlap between the overlapping edges (42, 43) in the closed position of the panes (38, 39) is formed between the plastic components (51) of the first and second rails (44, 45). The metal components (51) of the first and second rails (44, 45) are spaced from contact with each other and extend to overlie outwardly facing surfaces of the first and second panes (38, 39).
