Methods for providing wellbores for electromagnetic heating of a hydrocarbon formation positioned below a ground surface and apparatus thereof are provided. The apparatus includes two or more wellbore casings positioned within two or more wellbores. The two or more wellbores extend from a proximal end at the ground surface to a distal end at the underground hydrocarbon formation. Each of the two or more wellbore casings have a proximal portion and a distal portion. The two or more wellbores are in proximity to one another at a junction. The apparatus also includes a first electrical connection between the proximal portions of the two or more wellbore casings for grounding the two or more wellbore casings and a second electrical connection between the distal portions of the two or more wellbore casings. The second electrical connection is located at the junction and provides a short circuit that reduces current traveling on the two or more wellbore casings to the ground surface.
ELECTRICAL CONNECTORS FOR OIL OPERATIONS
An electrical connector is provided that includes a first conductor for receiving electrical power. A first seal is coupled to the first conductor for protecting the first conductor. An insulating body is coupled to the first conductor, and includes an electrical terminal that establishes electrical connections between the first conductor and a plurality of electrical terminal pins. A downhole cable is coupled to a first electrical terminal pin of the plurality of electrical terminal pins. The first electrical terminal pin establishes an electrical connection between the electrical terminal and the downhole cable to provide the electric power to the downhole cable. A second seal is coupled to the downhole cable for protecting the electrical connection between the electrical terminal and the downhole cable.
Downhole Conveyance Line Cutter
A downhole conveyance line cutter operable to be conveyed downhole within a wellbore along a conveyance line that conveys a tool string within the wellbore, connect to the conveyance line, and cut the conveyance line. The downhole conveyance line cutter may comprise a body, a cutting member operable to cut the conveyance line, and a nose section configured to contact an upper end of the tool string when the downhole tool reaches the tool string. The nose section may comprise an outer diameter that is larger than an outer diameter of the body. The nose section may comprise a contact surface configured to contact the upper end of the tool string when the downhole tool reaches the tool string. The contact surface may be a concave surface configured to accommodate at least a portion of the upper end of the tool string.
TUBE WIRE ANCHOR AND METHOD OF OPERATING THE SAME
An apparatus and downhole tool having a releasable locking mechanism for holding a line reliably connected to a tool in a wellbore for providing communication with and/or power to the tool, the releasable locking mechanism has: a movable holding device that can be in a locked state for holding the line reliably connected to the downhole tool or in a released state for allowing release of the line from the tool; and a movable locking device that can be in a locking state wherein the movable locking device engages with the movable holding device in a manner that restricts movement of the movable holding device, thereby locking the movable holding device in its locked state, or that can be in a releasing state for releasing the movable holding device to its released state.
Systems and methods for bonding a downhole tool to a borehole tubular
The present disclosure provides methods for bonding a first downhole tool to a borehole tubular, which include applying solder particles, each particle having an outer shell and a core of liquid metal, to at least one of a surface of the first downhole tool or a surface of the borehole tubular. The methods may also include rupturing the shells of the solder particles to release the liquid metal cores. The methods may further include bonding the first downhole tool to the borehole tubular by allowing the released liquid metal core to solidify.
DOWNHOLE PACKER SUITABLE FOR SMART WELL COMPLETION
The present invention addresses to an improvement in a conventional packer, comprising the installation of an upper connector, a lower connector and an inner tube, adapted to allow the passage of hydraulic control lines and/or electrical cables internally to the packer mandrel, without interference with the passage of tools or flow. The conventional packer transformed according to the present invention aims at allowing controlling, from the surface, hydraulic equipment (sliding sleeve valves) or transmitting/receiving data from flow rate, pressure and temperature sensors (PDG—Permanent Downhole Gauge) that are positioned in the production string below the packer. The packer according to the present invention comprises an adapted upper connection (40), an adapted lower connection (50), and an inner tube (62), through which control lines or electrical cables internally pass.
Casing-Embedded Fiber-Optics Telemetry for Real-Time Well Integrity Monitoring
Optic fibers are embedded within the body of a casing section making up a wellbore casing string. The optic fibers are used to detect damage or deformation of the casing string over the lifespan of a wellbore.
Pivot coupling
The present invention relates to a wireline retrieval head assembly and downhole tool, the wireline retrieval head assembly for coupling to the downhole tool for installation in and retrieval from downhole in a mineral industry field of use, wherein a first of the wireline retrieval head assembly and downhole tool has a retention member that has or is configured to receive a pivot member and a second of the wireline retrieval head assembly and downhole tool has a complementary link with an opening for receiving the pivot member, such that the link can be coupled to the retention member to create a pivot coupling to allow for articulation between the wireline retrieval head assembly and the downhole tool during installation and retrieval of the downhole tool, and the link can be removed from the retention member to remove the downhole tool from the wireline retrieval head assembly.
