Well casing/tubing disposal
11578556 · 2023-02-14 · ·

A method of clearing well casing (3) or tubing from a target region of an oil/gas well (1) borehole is provided. The clearance of the oil/gas well bore hole being achieved by employing chemical agents (9) that consume, weaken or melt the well casing/tubing. In some aspects of the method the well casing is cleared to expose the rock formation within which the well borehole is formed so that the rock formation can be accessed from within the well casing/tubing. In other aspects of the method the removal of inner tubing structures is used to facilitate the unimpaired deployment of repair tools down the well borehole.

Time-controlled cable-head cutter for line conveyed tools

A cable head line cutter tool comprising an internal mandrel anchored to a line and releasably held in an initial position by a locking mechanism disposed within an outer housing of the cable head cutter tool. When a tensile load is applied to the line sufficient to overcome a mechanical resistance acting upon the locking mechanism, and maintained for a duration sufficient to overcome a hydraulic resistance acting upon the locking mechanism, the internal mandrel may become released from the locking mechanism and allowed to travel within the outer housing free of the locking mechanism. In embodiments, the cable head line cutter tool may comprise one or more such locking mechanisms acting independently or in coordination. If the tensile load applied to the line is sufficient to release the mandrel from each of the one or more locking mechanisms and maintained for sufficient duration, the mandrel may cause a line cutter device disposed within the cable head line cutter tool to cut the line. Alternatively, the mandrel may be returned to the initial position prior to cutting the line by reducing or relaxing the tensile load applied to the line.

Treatment Methods for Water or Gas Reduction in Hydrocarbon Production Wells

Systems and methods for reducing unwanted water and/or gas intrusion into a hydrocarbon production wellbore. The system includes a treatment injection tool for injecting a treatment agent into portions of the formation surrounding the wellbore and a tunneling tool for forming one or more tunnels within the formation. Sensors provide real-time information about wellbore parameters during treatment so that wellbore analysis can be conducted.

Dual end firing explosive column tools and methods for selectively expanding a wall of a tubular
11713637 · 2023-08-01 ·

A method of selectively expanding a wall of a tubular includes assembling an expansion tool comprising a plurality of bi-directional boosters, arranging a predetermined number of explosive pellets a serially-arranged column between the bi-directional boosters, positioning a duel end firing explosive column tool within the tubular, and detonating the bi-directional boosters to simultaneously ignite opposing ends of the serially-arranged column to form two shock waves. The shock waves collide to create an amplified shock wave that travels radially outward to impact the tubular and expand a portion of the tubular wall radially outward, without perforating or cutting through the portion of the wall, to form a protrusion of the tubular at the portion of the wall. The protrusion extends into an annulus adjacent an outer surface of the wall of the tubular.

SIDETRACKING OPERATION VIA LASER CUTTING

A method includes deploying a bottom hole assembly downhole into a wellbore lined with a casing. While the bottom hole assembly is deployed downhole, the bottom hole assembly is used to: place a guiding profile within the wellbore casing, wherein the guiding profile is structured to physically guide a downhole drill in a direction different from that of a longitudinal axis of the casing; cut a window in the casing with a laser cutter; and withdraw at least one cut portion of the casing away from the window. A related bottom hole assembly includes: a laser cutter for cutting a window in a wellbore casing; a withdrawal mechanism for withdrawing at least one cut portion of the casing away from the cut window; and a releasable guiding profile structured to physically guide a downhole drill in a direction away from the wellbore casing.
