Tall flange rubber adapter
11486220 · 2022-11-01 · ·

The tall flange rubber adapter attaches to the inner barrel of a rotating head assembly. A rubber attaches to the tall flange rubber adapter. The rubber secured to the rubber adapter also rotates with the inner barrel thus maintaining the seal with the drill string to divert the drilling fluid from the well to the outlet flange. Fasteners install upward into the adapter and the inner barrel to secure the rubber adapter with the inner barrel. The increased height of the rubber adapter provides additional surface for the fastener to contact. The increased contact of the fastener with the tall flange maintains the fastener within the rubber adapter and the inner barrel to limit fasteners from falling downhole into the drilling area.

A rotatable plate is configured to be coupled to a rotary table of a rig floor. The rotatable plate defines a central passage through which a tubular can be passed. Multiple arms each have a first end rotably coupled to the rotatable plate. The arms are hinged such that a distal end of the arms, away from the rotatable plate, are configured to move towards or away from the passage. Each of arms extends away from the rotatable plate towards the passage. The arms are biased away from the passage. Rollers are rotably coupled to one of the distal ends of the arms.

Fixed-cutter drill bits with reduced cutting arc length on innermost cutter

The present disclosure provides a fixed-cutter drill bit including a bit body defining a bit rotational axis, a plurality of blades each having an inner end that is radially closer to the bit rotational axis than a remainder of the respective blade, a central bit surface, and a plurality of cutters disposed on the blades and including an innermost cutter located closest among all of the plurality of cutters to the bit rotational axis and having a flattened cutting surface, a cutting arc, and a relief having ends which is located within and interrupts the cutting arc such that the cutting arc includes at least two portions located on opposite ends of the relief. The disclosure also provides a drilling system including the drill bit and a drill string attached to the drill bit and a surface assembly to rotate the drill string and drill bit.

Downhole Tools With Power Utilization Apparatus During Flow-Off State

A drilling assembly for use in drilling of a wellbore is disclosed that in one non-limiting embodiment includes a device that detects a flow-off state, a power generator that generates electrical energy in response to a fluid flowing through the drilling assembly during the flow-off state, and a circuit that utilizes such power to perform one or more selected operations in response to the detection of the flow-off state, including, but not limited to, storing data in a memory; shutting certain devices in the drilling assembly and parking a device in a desired position.

A top drive for well operations having a gearbox, a traction motor connected to the gearbox so that a motor shaft of the traction motor extends into the gearbox, a quill extending into the gearbox, a gear train positioned within the gearbox and mechanically connected between the traction motor shaft and the quill, and a connector positioned in the gear train, wherein in a coupled configuration the connector communicates torque through the gear train, and wherein in a decoupled configuration the connector does not communicate torque through the gear train. A method for operating a top drive by applying a first torque to a quill with two traction motors, disconnecting one of the traction motors from the quill, and applying a second torque less than the first torque to the quill with the non-disconnected traction motor.

Image based inspection and automated inventory and supply chain management of well equipment

A monitoring system includes an image sensor positioned about a rig, the image sensor directed at a drill string component positioned on the rig, and an onsite gateway communicably coupled to the image sensor and disposed proximate to the rig. The onsite gateway includes one or more processors, and a non-transitory computer-readable storage medium coupled to the one or more processors and storing programming instructions for execution by the one or more processors. The programming instructions instruct the one or more processors to receive an image stream of the drill string component from the image sensor, identify an operating parameter of the drill string component, generate an operating condition of the drill string component, determine that the generated operating condition meets a failure threshold of the drill string component, and send an instruction to drive a controllable device.
