High-expansion well sealing using seal seat extender
A sealing tool, system and method for sealing a wellbore achieves increased expansion with the use of a seal seat extender. In one example, a seal seat (e.g., a ball seat) defines an axial flow bore in fluid communication with the wellbore to be sealed, a sealing profile for receiving a loose sealing element (e.g., a ball or dart) to close the axial flow bore, and a tapered outer profile. The seal seat extender is initially disposed against the seal seat and is expandable against the seal seat in response to an axial setting force, such as by sliding up the tapered outer profile of the seal seat and/or buckling outwardly, in response to a setting force. A compliant annular packing element disposed against the seal seat extender is deformable outwardly into sealing engagement with the wellbore in response to the axial setting force.
DOWNHOLE TOOL AND METHOD OF USE
A method of using a downhole tool that includes the step of operating a workstring to run the downhole tool into a wellbore to a desired position. The downhole tool includes a mandrel having a proximate end with a first outer diameter; a distal end with a second outer diameter; a flowbore; and an inner set of shear threads disposed in the flowbore at the proximate end.
High-Expansion Well Sealing Using Seal Seat Extender

In one example, a seal seat (e.g., a ball seat) defines an axial flow bore in fluid communication with the wellbore to be sealed, a sealing profile for receiving a loose sealing element (e.g., a ball or dart) to close the axial flow bore, and a tapered outer profile. A compliant annular packing element disposed against the seal seat extender is deformable outwardly into sealing engagement with the wellbore in response to the axial setting force.
ANNULAR BARRIER
The present invention relates to an annular barrier for providing zonal isolation in an annulus downhole between a well tubular metal structure and another well tubular metal structure or a wall of a borehole, comprising a tubular metal part configured to be mounted as part of the well tubular metal structure, the tubular metal part having an outer face, an opening and an axial extension along the well tubular metal structure, and an expandable metal sleeve surrounding the tubular metal part, the first expandable metal sleeve having a circumferential groove, a first end and a second end, each end of the expandable metal sleeve being connected with the outer face of the tubular metal part, wherein the annular barrier further comprises an anchoring element arranged in the circumferential groove, the anchoring element comprising a first anchoring part at least partly overlapping a second anchoring part in a radial direction perpendicular to the axial extension so that an inner face of the first anchoring part at least partly abuts an outer face of the second anchoring part. Moreover, the present invention relates to a downhole completion system.
Sealing element
This disclosure may generally relate to additive manufacturing operations and, more particularly, to systems and methods for three dimensional (3D) printing a sealing element. Specifically, examples of the present disclosure may be implemented to manufacture a sealing element which may be disposed in a wellbore to seal off a portion of a well.
APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR PREPARING A DOWNHOLE TOOL COMPONENT
The apparatus prepares a downhole tool component, particularly a slip for a plug that seals zones in a wellbore. The apparatus includes a casing holder, a cone insert, and a cap. There is a bottom center connector to hold the cone insert within the casing holder. There are a plurality of spacing bolts, and a top center connector to hold the slip within the space between the cap, the cone insert, and the casing holder. The top center connector can adjust distance between the slip and the cone insert so that the coating on the ramp surface of the slip has a uniform thickness. The invention includes the method of using the apparatus to prepare the slip with coating of uniform thickness to removably engage another component of the apparatus.
Downhole check valve assembly with a ratchet mechanism
Valve systems for inserting into casings used in downhole environments are provided. The valve system includes a mandrel, a check valve assembly, and a setting system. The setting system includes a sealing element, a pair of wedges, and a pair of slips, each located on an outer surface of the mandrel. The wedges are separated from each other by the sealing element. Each wedge includes an inner surface configured to slide along the outer surface of the mandrel and an angled surface having a first set of ratchet teeth. The slips are separated from each other by the pair of wedges. Each slip includes an inner surface having a second set of ratchet teeth configured to engage the first set of ratchet teeth. Also, each slip includes an outer surface having gripping elements configured to grip an inner surface of the casing.
Cone for a downhole tool
A downhole tool for use in a wellbore includes a cone, a cone adapter at least partially disposed in the cone, a shoe member, and a slip assembly disposed between the cone and the shoe member. A mandrel extends through the cone adapter and attached to the shoe member. The cone adapter is retrievable with the mandrel.
PERMANENT PACKER AND EXTENDED GAS LIFT METHOD USING PERMANENT PACKER
The present invention discloses a permanent packer and an extended gas lift method using the permanent packer, the method comprising: S1. imbedding the extended gas lift embedded pipe when setting the permanent packer, wherein the extended gas lift embedded pipe has an upper end being closed and a lower end being open, is provided therein with a one-way valve through which the fluid can pass from top to bottom; S2. lowering a breaking device from the production casing when in the extended gas lift, to break the upper end of the extended gas lift embedded pipe such that the upper and lower ends of the extended gas lift embedded pipe are communicated; and S3. injecting gas into the production casing, lifting the accumulated liquid in the bottom hole to the ground surface, to complete the extended gas lift. The method does not affect the sealing property of the permanent packer, can fully adapt to the demand in the early and middle stages of gas well development, and meanwhile can realize extended gas lift without workover in the middle and later stages of gas well development, and has low implementation cost and good safety.
BI-DIRECTIONAL SPRING CONE IN LINER HANGER SYSTEM
A system for hanging tubing in a wellbore includes a tubular body, a plurality of lower slips mounted along the tubular body, a spring cone disposed around the tubular body and fixed to the plurality of lower slips, the spring cone comprising a lock ring having a ratchet profile, and a packer element disposed around the tubular body, below and adjacent the spring cone.
