Drill feed system
A gear feed system includes a carrier and a mast mounted on the carrier. The mast includes a pair of panels forming opposing sides of the mast along a central axis of the mast. Each of the pair of panels includes a fixed rack attached to an interior surface of the each of the panels. A gear carrier pair includes a gear, a movable rack assembly, and a cylinder. Each of the gear is coupled to one of the panels and each of the gear couples one of the fixed racks to one of the movable rack assemblies (hoist tubes). The cylinder and the movable rack assembly are coupled via the gear wherein an axial movement of the cylinders causes a corresponding axial displacement of the movable rack assemblies.
Guide for top drive unit
A method for forming a guide for a top drive unit includes connecting a lower track member to a lower mast section and connecting an upper track member to an upper mast section and telescoped with the lower track section. A slider is slidably positioned about the upper track member so the slider is movable along the upper track member. The slider has a lateral cross-sectional profile substantially the same size and shape as a lateral cross-sectional profile of the lower track member. The skate is slidably positioned about the lower track member to be movable along the lower track member and onto the slider. The skate travels along the upper track member via the slider. The skate is connectable to a top drive unit so the top drive unit is movable along the lower track member and the upper track member.
CONSTRUCTION MACHINE AND METHOD FOR OPERATING A CONSTRUCTION MACHINE
The invention relates to a construction machine, in particular drilling rig, comprising a mast, along which a tool is movably mounted, wherein the tool is suspended on a cable which can be actuated by means of cable winch for raising and lowering the tool, which cable winch is driven by an electric motor, as a winch drive, in a drive mode, wherein the electric motor is designed for operating in a recuperation mode in which the electric motor preferably generates electrical energy when the tool is lowered and outputs said electrical energy to an energy store, and a controller, which is designed to actuate the electric motor, depending on a specifiable target value, in such a way that the cable is tensioned both in the drive mode and in the recuperation mode of the electric motor.
Automatic digging adjustment system and method
A system and method for automatically digging a hole using a digger assembly on the end of a boom. A controller is configured to receive signals from a plurality of sensors distributed throughout the digging system, along the boom and the digger assembly. Based on the information from the sensors, the controller automatically adjusts one or more parameters of the digging system while digging the hole. The system and method prevent corkscrewing of the digging member, while also allowing for a specific hole depth and hole angle to be dug. Specifically, the system allows for easily and accurately digging a plumb hole.
Systems and Method to Protect a Drilling Rig
A drilling rig system includes a mast that includes one or more front legs, one or more rear legs positioned opposite the one or more front legs, and a crown block at the top of the mast. The system also includes a raising line coupled to the crown block or the one or more rear legs and configured to apply a first force to the mast. The first force acts in a direction opposing a second force generated by the weight of the mast as the mast pivots between a substantially horizontal position and a substantially vertical position. The system also includes a drawworks assembly coupled to the raising line and configured to pull the raising line to generate the first force, and a telescoping spring assembly coupled to the one or more front legs. The telescoping spring assembly is configured to apply a third force to the mast that acts in the direction opposing the second force.
WORK PLATFORM AND METHOD FOR WELL OPERATIONS
A work platform (10) for use in well operations, the work platform (10) being configured for positioning above a well pipe (15), the work platform (10) having a support frame (12), a support tool (13) arranged on the support frame (12), the support tool (13) operable to engage a lubricator (14) and vertically and horizontally support the lubricator (14), wherein the support frame (12) is movable between an advanced position and a retracted position. There is also provided an assembly for carrying out well operations comprising a wireline mast (11), and methods of inserting and retrieving a tool string into or from a well pipe (15).
Mast for drilling machines
A mast for a drilling machine is disclosed. The mast includes a frame assembly defining an inner volume to accommodate a drilling assembly of the drilling machine. The frame assembly includes a first beam, a second beam, a plurality of links, a plurality of reinforcement members, and a plate, that combinedly form a truss. The plate defines an opening to facilitate access to the inner volume of the frame assembly.
SELF-MOVING TUBULAR STORAGE RIGS AND METHODS FOR THE USE THEREOF
The present disclosure relates to self-moving tubular storage rigs and methods for the use thereof. A benefit to the self-moving tubular storage rigs herein can be providing time efficient transport and storage of tubulars between work sites on a multi-well pad. Another benefit to the self-moving tubular storage rigs can be providing safer transport of tubulars between work sites in the same multi-well pad. Additional benefits can be a safer work practice as well as significant cost savings associated with the transport of tubulars between work sites on a multi-well pad.
Drilling machine provided with a detection system for detecting at least one locking position of a rotary head of an extension element of a drill string and method for detecting said at least one locking position
A single-pass type drilling machine includes a guide tower, a string of drilling rods, an extension element having an upper end and a lower end with the lower end being coupled with an upper end of the string of drilling rods, a rotary head slidably coupled with the guide tower, and a detection system. The rotary head and the extension element are mutually slidable and arranged to couple with each other in an upper end stop position, where the rotary head is coupled with the extension element substantially at the upper end of the extension element. The rotary head is coupled with the extension element at a lower position with respect to the upper end stop position in at least one locking position. The detection system detects the reaching of the at least one locking position by detecting at least the mutual axial position of the extension element and the rotary head.
