System and methods for selective cleaning of turbine engine components
System for selectively contacting a cleaning composition with a surface of a turbine engine component is presented. The system includes a cleaning apparatus and a manifold assembly. The cleaning apparatus includes an upper portion and a lower portion defining a cleaning chamber configured to allow selective contact between the cleaning composition and a surface of the first portion of the turbine engine component. The upper portion includes a plurality of fill holes in fluid communication with the cleaning chamber, and the lower portion includes a plurality of drain holes in fluid communication with the cleaning chamber. The manifold assembly is configured to selectively circulate the cleaning composition from a reservoir to the cleaning chamber via the plurality of fill holes, and recirculate the cleaning composition from the cleaning chamber to the reservoir via the plurality of drain holes. Methods for selectively cleaning a turbine engine component is also presented.
ENGINE PERFORMANCE MODELING BASED ON WASH EVENTS
One example aspect of the present disclosure is directed to a method for measuring engine performance. The method includes receiving first parameters related to engine performance prior to an engine wash event. The method includes receiving second parameters related to engine performance after the engine wash event. The method includes determining an engine performance prior to the engine wash event based on the first parameters. The method includes determining an engine performance after the engine wash event based on the second parameters. The method includes determining an effectiveness of the engine wash event based on the engine performance prior to the engine wash event and the engine performance after the engine wash event.
ENGINE PERFORMANCE MODELING BASED ON WASH EVENTS
One example aspect of the present disclosure is directed to a method for measuring engine performance. The method includes receiving a plurality of parameters related to engine performance. The method includes receiving an indication of an engine wash event. The method includes determining an effectiveness of the engine wash event based on the plurality of parameters. The method includes performing a comparison of the effectiveness of the engine wash event with an expected effectiveness of the engine wash event. The method includes performing a control action based on the comparison.
CLEANING METHOD FOR JET ENGINE
Turbines and associated equipment are normally cleaned via water or chemical pressure washing via a mist, spray systems. However, these systems fail to reach deep across the gas path to remove fouling materials. Various embodiments herein pertain to apparatus and methods that utilize the water and exiting chemicals to generate a foam. The foam can be introduced at that gas-path entrance of the equipment, where it contacts the stages and internal surfaces to contact, scrub, carry, and remove fouling away from equipment to restore performance.
In situ foam generation within a turbine engine
A turbine system includes a foam generating assembly having an in situ foam generating device at least partially positioned within the fluid passageway of the turbine engine, such that the in situ foam generating device is configured to generate foam within the fluid passageway of the turbine engine.
Component repair system and method
A method of repairing a component of a gas turbine engine in situ, wherein the component includes a deposit, includes directing a flow of gas, which may be an oxygen-containing gas, to the deposit of the component; and heating the component including the deposit while the component is installed in the gas turbine engine and for a duration sufficient to substantially remove the deposit.
Device, method and assembly for cleaning the core engine of a jet engine
A device cleans a core engine of a jet engine. The device has: a nozzle installation which is configured for introducing a cleaning medium into the core engine; a connector configured to connect the device in a rotationally fixed manner to a shaft of a fan of the jet engine; and a line connection configured to supply the cleaning medium, which is connected to the nozzle installation by a rotary coupling. The nozzle installation comprises nozzles, comprising at least one flat jet nozzle, and at least one full cone nozzle or hollow cone nozzle.
DE-PRESERVING A FUEL SYSTEM OF A TURBINE ENGINE
A method is provided for treating a fuel system of a turbine engine. During this method, a treatment system is connected to the turbine engine. Preservation fluid is drawn out of the fuel system using the treatment system.
Method for pickling a turbomachine component
The invention relates to a method for pickling a turbomachine component (1), comprising the following steps: positioning the component in a closed chamber (2), injecting a gas mixture (3) into the chamber (2), the gas mixture (3) comprising a halogenated gas, heating the chamber (2), the method being characterised in that: the gas mixture further comprises dihydrogen, the heating step is carried out at a temperature higher than 1000° C. and the step of injecting the gas mixture (3) is carried out by circulating through the chamber (2) a flow of gas mixture (3) having a flow rate between 6 and 15 times the volume of the chamber (2) per hour.
METHOD OF ELECTROPOLISHING
A method of electropolishing an internal passageway of a component, wherein the passageway has an inlet and an outlet; including: providing an electrode assembly including a flexible electrode, a shuttle and a guide cable extending between the flexible electrode and the shuttle; inserting the shuttle into the inlet; causing fluid to flow through the passageway to transport the shuttle through the passageway from the inlet towards the outlet; pulling the guide cable through the passageway to position the electrode in the passageway adjacent to a region of the passageway to be polished; and electropolishing the passageway using the electrode while moving the electrode within the passageway. Also, an electrode assembly for electropolishing an internal passageway of a component, including: a flexible electrode, a shuttle, and a guide cable extending between the flexible electrode and the shuttle.
