DESIGN OF A SUPPORT FOR A FIBROUS BLADE OR PROPELLER BLANK
A method for digitally designing a support with the shape of a fibrous blank obtained by three-dimensional weaving intended to form a fibrous preform of a turbine engine blade or propeller after shaping and compaction in a mold, includes providing a set of points representative of a face of the fibrous blank, the face being intended to form the root of the blade or the propeller and a portion of an aerodynamic profile of the blade or the propeller, generating a web connecting the points of the set of points, and digitally designing the support including at least an imprint of the fibrous blank having the shape of the generated web.
COMPOSITE FAN BLADE AIRFOIL, METHODS OF MANUFACTURE THEREOF AND ARTICLES COMPRISING THE SAME
A fan blade comprises interleaved plies, where interleaving comprises distributing wide plies within narrow plies and short plies within long plies in the fan blade; wherein the interleaving is defined as an actual intersection of a plurality of plies of different variable dimensions that extend in the chordwise direction with another plurality of plies of different variable dimensions that extend in the spanwise direction such that their respective longitudinal axes intersect with one another at angles of 5 to 175 degrees.
Airfoil having a spline fillet
An airfoil for a gas turbine engine, which has an airfoil body extending in a spanwise direction and in a chordwise direction, a platform located at an inner end and/or an outer end of the airfoil body, and a fillet at a junction between the airfoil body and the platform. The fillet has a radius distribution at a given chordwise location, the radius distribution varying from the platform to the airfoil body in the spanwise direction. The radius distribution defines a local minimum, the radius of the fillet at the given chordwise location increasing from the local minimum along the spanwise direction toward both of the airfoil and the platform. A local maximum of the radius distribution is offset from the local minimum along the spanwise direction, the radius decreasing from the local maximum along the spanwise direction toward both of the airfoil and the platform.
INTEGRATED BLADED ROTOR
An integrated bladed rotor of a gas turbine engine is provided. The integrated bladed rotor includes a hub having a rotation axis and a radially outer platform relative to the rotation axis, and a plurality of blades extending radially outwardly from the outer platform of the hub. The blades are integrally formed with the hub to define a monolithic component with the hub. Two or more of the blades each include: an airfoil including a groove formed in an outer surface of the airfoil to mitigate crack propagation, and a root fillet providing a transition between the outer platform of the hub and the airfoil.
Turbine blade having a structural reinforcement with enhanced adherence
A turbine engine blade having an aerodynamic surface extending a first direction between a leading edge and a trailing edge and in a second direction, perpendicular to the first direction, between a root of the blade and a tip of the blade, the aerodynamic surface being made of a fiber-reinforced organic matrix composite material, and a metallic structural reinforcement bonded by an adhesive joint to the leading edge whose shape it follows and which has over its entire height a substantially V-shaped section with a base extended by two lateral flanks having a thinned profile at free ends directed toward the trailing edge, the adhesive joint being locally supplemented below the free ends of the lateral flanks by an elastomeric polymer introduced in the form of solid particles into the adhesive joint and adhered to the aerodynamic surface and/or the free ends of the lateral flanks during a polymerization phase.
FAN OR PROPELLER VANE FOR AN AIRCRAFT TURBOMACHINE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
Fan or propeller vane (1) for an aircraft turbomachine, the vane being made from a composite material and comprising a blade (2) and a base (3), the base being formed by a longitudinal end (41) of a spar (4) which is formed by a fibrous reinforcement formed from threads woven in three dimensions and a portion (42) of which extends inside the blade (2), the blade (2) having an aerodynamic profile which is defined by a skin (5) which is formed by woven threads and which surrounds the portion of the spar, the spar (4) and the skin (5) being embedded in a polymerised resin, characterised in that the portion (42) of the spar comprises projecting longitudinal stiffening members (6) which together delimit spaces (8) for receiving longitudinal inserts (7) which are formed from a honeycomb material.
AIRFOIL ARRANGEMENT FOR A GAS TURBINE ENGINE UTILIZING A SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY
An airfoil arrangement for a gas turbine engine may include a support device using a shape memory alloy to support and control the airfoil. The support device may be formed as part of a fan blade. The arrangement may be configured to reduce overall weight and dimensions of the gas turbine engine.
Ceramic matrix composite vane assembly
A turbine assembly for use with a gas turbine engine includes a bladed wheel assembly and a vane assembly. The bladed wheel assembly is adapted to interact with gases flowing through a gas path of the gas turbine engine. The vane assembly is located upstream of the bladed wheel assembly and adapted to direct the gases at the bladed wheel assembly.
TURBINE COMPONENT THERMAL BARRIER COATING WITH CRACK ISOLATING, CASCADING, MULTIFURCATED ENGINEERED GROOVE FEATURES
Turbine engine (80) components, such as blades (92), vanes (104, 106), ring segment 110 abradable surfaces 120, or transitions (85), have furcated engineered groove features (EGFs) (403, 404, 418, 509, 511, 512) that cut into the outer surface of the component's thermal barrier coating (TBC). In some embodiments, the EGF planform pattern defines adjoining outer hexagons (560, 640, 670, 690, 710). In some embodiments, the EGF pattern further defines within each outer hexagon (560, 640, 670, 690, 710) a planform pattern of adjoining inner polygons (570, 580, 590, 600, 610, 680, 682, 700, 702, 704, 705, 720). At least three respective groove segments (509, 511, 512) within the EGF pattern (506, 507, 508) converge at each respective outer hexagonal vertex (510, 564) or inner polygonal vertex (574, 564, 604, 614) in a multifurcated pattern, so that crack-inducing stresses are attenuated in cascading fashion, as the stress (σ.sub.A) is furcated (σ.sub.B, σ.sub.C) at each successive vertex juncture.
COUPON FOR HOT GAS PATH COMPONENT HAVING MANUFACTURING ASSIST FEATURES
A coupon for replacing a cutout in a hot gas path component of a turbomachine is provided. In one embodiment, the coupon includes a body having an outer surface; and a plurality of grinding depth indicators in the outer surface of the body. In another embodiment, the coupon includes a body having an edge periphery configured to mate with an edge periphery of the cutout, and at least a portion of the edge periphery of the body has a wall thickness greater than a wall thickness of an edge periphery of the cutout. The embodiments may be used together or separately.
