Gas turbine blade and rotor wear-protection system
Sacrificial inserts for use in gas turbine engines to reduce friction and wear damage between compressor fan blades and the fan rotors are disclosed. The consumable metallic shims have low friction and reduce fretting and galling on fan blade roots and fan rotor dovetail slots thereby increasing their operating lives, as well as reduce engine noise and improve engine efficiency. The electroformed, compliant, multi-purpose shims may have variable thickness and, when positioned between the blade dovetail root and the rotor disk dovetail slot, prevent movement and slippage between air foil blades and the rotor.
SYSTEM WITH A ROTOR BLADE FOR A GAS TURBINE WITH A BLADE FOOT PROTECTIVE PLATE HAVING A SEALING SECTION
A rotor blade system includes a blade root, a blade neck adjoining the blade root, an airfoil adjoining the blade neck, a radially outer partition wall, an axially forward partition wall and an axially rearward partition wall, connected to the radially outer partition wall such that the partition walls surround the blade neck on three sides, the partition walls projecting beyond the blade neck in the circumferential direction, and further including a blade root protection plate designed to be arranged on the blade root. It is provided that the blade root protection plate have at least one sealing portion that extends in the axial direction from the forward partition wall to the rearward partition wall and whose radially outer side is disposed opposite the radially outer partition wall when the blade root protection plate is arranged on the blade root.
Turbomachine rotor assembly
A rotor assembly includes a rotor having a dovetail slot. The dovetail slot includes a plurality of recesses and a first radially innermost surface. A rotor blade includes an airfoil that extends radially outward from a platform and a dovetail that extends radially inward from the platform. The dovetail includes a plurality of projections extending in opposite directions that are received by the plurality of recesses of the dovetail slot. The dovetail further includes a leading edge surface, a trailing edge surface, and a second radially innermost surface. The second radially innermost surface defines a groove from the leading edge surface to the trailing edge surface. The shim is positioned within the groove and between the first radially innermost surface of the dovetail slot and the second radially innermost surface of the dovetail. The shim extends at least partially radially along both of the leading edge surface and the trailing edge surface to secure the rotor blade within the dovetail slot during various operating conditions of the turbomachine.
A FIXING APPARATUS
There is disclosed a fixing apparatus (10) for fixing a secondary component (14) to a fan blade, the fixing apparatus comprising: a first clamp part (16) comprising a first inner surface (20) and a second clamp part (18) comprising a second inner surface (22), the first inner surface and the second inner surface having a profile corresponding to a profile of a portion of the fan blade (102). The first clamp part and/or the second clamp part comprises a recess (24) in the respective first inner surface and/or second inner surface for receiving the secondary component, and a corresponding heater (28, 30) for applying heat to the secondary component located in the recess in use. The first clamp part and the second clamp part are configured to cooperate with one another to clamp the portion of a blade between them in a clamping operation and to hold the secondary component against the blade when the secondary component is received within the recess.
COMPOSITE TURBOMACHINE VANE AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING SAME
A turbomachine blade is made of composite material formed of woven fibers and embedded in a polymerized resin. The blade includes a root connected by a stilt to a vane which comprises a pressure side and a suction side. At least one anti-wear strip of fabric is located on a surface of the root and/or the stilt. At least one anti-wear strip is secured to the root surface in a unitary manner by the resin.
FAN ROTOR WITH VARIABLE PITCH BLADES AND TURBOMACHINE EQUIPPED WITH SUCH A ROTOR
The present invention relates to a fan rotor with variable pitch blades, comprising a rotor disc, equipped at its periphery with a plurality of rotary fasteners (16), each fastener (16) comprising a cell (17) for receiving the root (150) of a blade (15). This rotor is characterised in that an elongated wedge (2) and a prestressing rod (3) with at least one cam (33) are also arranged in each cell (17), the bottom of the cell (17) comprising as many retraction cavities (173) as the rod (3) comprises cams (33), in that the prestressing rod (3) is interposed between the wedge (2) and the bottom (171) of the cell (17), so that said cam (33) is facing a corresponding retraction cavity (173) and in that the prestressing rod (3) can rotate about its longitudinal axis (X2-X′2), between a rest position, in which the cam (33) is housed in the retraction cavity (173), and an armed position, in which the cam (33) exerts a radial pressure on the central region (22) of the wedge (2) so as to move the wedge (2) towards the blade root (150).
COATING PROCESS FOR APPLYING A BIFURCATED COATING
A coating process for applying a bifurcated coating to an article is disclosed including applying an aluminizing slurry to a first portion of the article, applying a chromizing slurry to a second portion of the article, and simultaneously heat treating the article, the aluminizing slurry, and the chromizing slurry. Heat treating the aluminizing slurry forms an aluminide coating on the first portion of the article and an aluminide diffusion zone between the article and the aluminide coating. Heat treating the chromizing slurry forms a chromide coating on the second portion of the article and a chromide diffusion zone between the article and the chromide coating. The first portion and the second portion are both maintained in an unmasked state while applying the aluminizing slurry and the chromizing slurry and during the heat treating.
BEARING ELEMENT AND TURBOMACHINE WITH A BEARING ELEMENT
A bearing element for at least one adjustable guide vane of a turbomachine, in particular an aircraft engine, is provided. The bearing element comprising a porous matrix made of carbon and/or graphite and at least one metallic phase or a metal salt that is at least partially arranged inside the pores of the matrix, so that what results is a metal-infiltrated or a metal-salt-infiltrated material.
