Rocker arm assembly having a hydraulic lash adjuster
A method of retrofitting a rocker arm assembly for an engine includes removing a first rocker arm assembly from the engine such that a camshaft of the engine remains in the engine. The method also includes providing a second rocker arm assembly that includes a rocker shaft, a rocker arm, a pushrod, and a hydraulic lash adjuster. The rocker arm is connected to the rocker shaft such that the rocker arm can pivot relative to the rocker shaft. The rocker arm has a first end, a second end, and a first oil passage. The pushrod has a top end and a bottom end, in which the top end is connected to the second end of the rocker arm and the bottom end is configured for engaging a camshaft of the engine. The hydraulic lash adjuster includes a housing, a first body member, a second body member, a check valve, and a biasing member. The first body member is disposed in the housing such that a first radial clearance exists between an outer surface of the first body member and an inner surface of the housing. The first body member has a first bore and an opening in fluid communication with the first oil passage of the rocker arm. The second body member is disposed in the first bore of the first body member such that a second radial clearance exists between the inner surface of the first bore of the first body member and an outer surface of the second body member. The second radial clearance is less than the first radial clearance. The check valve is configured to allow oil to flow through the opening of the first body member when the check valve is in an open position and configured to prevent the flow of oil through the opening when the check valve is in the closed position. The biasing member is disposed in a second bore of the second body member. The method further includes inserting the second rocker arm assembly into the engine such that the bottom end of the pushrod engages the camshaft of the engine and the front end of the rocker arm engages a valve assembly of the engine.

The first and second exhaust valves may be actuated together in at least one operating area of the internal combustion engine, via an exhaust valve bridge and a first valve lifter, by a first cam lobe of a first exhaust cam arranged on a camshaft. The camshaft having a second exhaust cam with at least one additional cam lobe and at least one second cam lobe A transmission device being arranged in the functional path between the second exhaust cam and the second exhaust valve, the transmission device allowing an idle stroke to be activated or deactivated. The first exhaust cam and the second exhaust cam are configured and arranged to be rotatable relative to one another.
ROTARY VALVES
The present disclosure provides a rotary valve comprising a valve shaft coupled to a rotary valve element. The valve shaft defines an axis and is rotatable thereabout. The valve further comprises a rotary position sensor and a coupling rotationally coupling the valve shaft and the sensor. A wrenching arm is rotationally coupled to the valve shaft, and extends radially outwardly of the axis for attachment of a wrenching tool thereto. The coupling is axially between the rotary position sensor and the wrenching arm.
SELF-CONTAINED E-FOOT
A rocker arm, comprises a first outer arm and a second outer. A pivot body is joined between the first end of the first outer arm and the third end of the second outer arm. An actuatable latch mechanism is within the pivot body. An inner arm assembly comprises a latch arm pivotable adjacent the pivot body. An axle joins the inner arm assembly to pivot between the first outer arm and the second outer arm. An outer arm connector spans between the second end of the first outer arm and the fourth end of the second outer arm. A valve seat insert is constrained within the inner arm assembly between the outer arm connector and the axle. Alternatively, a valve seat insert hangs from the axle and is constrained within the inner arm assembly, the valve seat insert comprising a front and a rear cusp.
THREE ROLLER ROCKER ARM WITH OUTBOARD LOST MOTION SPRING
A rocker arm can comprise a first outer arm and a second outer arm joined by a pivot body. An actuatable latch mechanism is within the pivot body. An inner arm assembly comprises a latch arm. A first spring prop is on the inner arm assembly distal from the latch arm. An axle joins the inner arm assembly to pivot between the first outer arm and the second outer arm. A spring is biased against the first outer arm and against the first spring prop. The first spring prop can comprise a hooked end. Or, the first spring prop can extend laterally out from the rocker arm and parallel to the axle. The spring can comprise a one-piece spring comprising first and second coil springs connected by a lateral connector. Or, two separate torsion springs can comprising tangential spring ends extending at approximately 90 degrees.
THREE ROLLER ROCKER ARM WITH CANTILEVERED ROLLERS AND LOST MOTION SPRING OVER VALVE OR OVER ROCKER ARM PIVOT
A rocker arm, comprises a first outer arm comprising a first inner side and a first outer side, the first outer side comprising a first cantilevered post. A first outer roller is mounted to the first cantilevered post. A second outer arm comprises a second inner side and a second outer side, the second inner side facing the first inner side, the second outer side comprising a second cantilevered post. A second outer roller is mounted to the second cantilevered post. A pivot body joins the first inner side to the second inner side. An actuatable latch mechanism is within the pivot body.
