Lubrication control in internal combustion engines
An adapter replaces a crankcase screw-on oil filter for an internal combustion engine and couples pressurized oil in the engine's crankcase with at least one external component. The adapter includes a valve that prevents backflow of oil from the external component to the crankcase.
CYLINDER HEAD COVER
A cylinder head cover of plastic for covering a cylinder head of an internal combustion engine is disclosed. The cylinder head cover includes a bearing track including at least two bearing points each having a bearing opening for supporting a camshaft. A bearing ring is provided in at least one of at least one bearing point and a bearing opening. The bearing ring is injected into the plastic of the cylinder head cover. An oil duct that leads to at least one of the two bearing points and serves for bearing lubrication is arranged in the cylinder head cover.
INTERNAL COMBUSTION ENGINE
An internal combustion engine is provided, which includes an engine body provided with a cylinder having openings for intake and exhaust, and valve bodies that open and close the openings, cam shafts, each provided with a cam lobe that depress the corresponding valve body to open the openings, and bearing members pivotally supporting the cam shaft via lubricating oil. The cam shaft includes cam journals pivotally supported by the bearing members, and a recess formed at a position of the cam journal, opposing the cam lobe in the circumferential direction, and depressed radially inwardly of the cam journal, the recess being deeper in an axial end part of the cam journal than an axial center part.
Electromechanical camshaft adjuster
The disclosure relates to an electromechanical camshaft adjuster comprising an electric motor and an adjusting gear, which has a housing with two housing parts that are sealed off with respect to each other by means of a static seal and with respect to the electric motor and a cylinder head by means of two dynamic seals. A first housing part of the adjusting gear has a pot shape that tapers in a stepped manner towards a housing bottom of the housing part, said pot shape having three different inner diameter regions. In the region closest to the bottom with the smallest inner diameter, a stop plate that acts in the circumferential direction is held. In the region with the middle inner diameter, an output ring gear is mounted with play, and in the region with the largest inner diameter, an input ring gear is secured.
Internal combustion engine
An internal combustion engine is provided, which includes an engine body provided with a cylinder having openings for intake and exhaust, and valve bodies that open and close the openings, cam shafts, each provided with a cam lobe that depress the corresponding valve body to open the openings, and bearing members pivotally supporting the cam shaft via lubricating oil. The cam shaft includes cam journals pivotally supported by the bearing members, and a recess formed at a position of the cam journal, opposing the cam lobe in the circumferential direction, and depressed radially inwardly of the cam journal, the recess being deeper in an axial end part of the cam journal than an axial center part.
VALVE DEACTIVATING SYSTEM FOR AN ENGINE
Systems and methods for operating an engine with deactivating valves are presented. In one example, a groove in a camshaft controls oil flow to a valve operator that selectively activates and deactivates a poppet valve of a cylinder. The groove moves with the camshaft so that oil delivery to the valve operator is timed properly to deactivate and reactivate the cylinder.
Camshaft adjusting device
A camshaft adjusting device having improved lubricant management including adjusting gearing for adjusting the angular position of a camshaft is proposed, the adjusting gearing having an input shaft, which can be coupled to a crankshaft, an output shaft, which can be coupled to the camshaft and an adjusting shaft, which can be coupled to an actuator. The adjusting gearing defines a rotational axis and the gearing forms a gearing interior, in which the input shaft, the output shaft and the adjusting shaft are operatively interconnected. The camshaft adjusting device has a lubricant supply for supplying the gearing interior with a lubricant and the lubricant supply is designed to form a lubricant sump in the gearing interior, the sump being radially outwards situated relative to the rotational axis.

Unitary composite cam cover and carrier and assembly method
A valve cover module includes a unitary cover and carrier made of a carbon fiber composite. The unitary cover and carrier has a lower side with a peripheral edge for attaching to a cylinder head. The lower side of the unitary cover and carrier also has a series of cavities interconnected with aligned apertures defining bearing surfaces. A plurality of cam lobes is disposed in the series of cavities. Also, the valve cover module includes a camshaft rotatable on the bearing surfaces and extending through the aligned apertures to couple with the cam lobes.
Work vehicle engine with split-circuit lubrication system
A lubrication system for an internal combustion engine of a work vehicle includes an engine oil sump and a pump unit fluidly connected to the engine oil sump to receive engine oil therefrom. The pump unit, in turn, includes a first oil pump comprising a variable displacement pump, a second oil pump, a drive line mechanically coupled to the first oil pump and the second oil pump that drives each of the pumps, and a manifold that directs engine oil from the engine oil sump to the first and second oil pumps. A first oil circuit is fluidly coupled to the first oil pump to direct a first flow of engine oil to piston spray jets in the engine and a second oil circuit is fluidly coupled to the second oil pump to direct a second flow of engine oil to one or more oiled engine components in the engine.
