Vehicle sound attenuation
Vehicle sound attenuation systems and methods are provided herein. An example method includes determining a triggering event for a vehicle using an advanced driver assisted technology system, and controlling a sound enhancing system of the vehicle in response to the triggering event. Controlling the sound enhancing system may include attenuating engine or exhaust sound produced by the sound enhancing system of the vehicle.
Valve mounting structure
A valve mounting structure includes a mounting portion, a valve, and a cushion. The valve includes a valve seat having a cylindrical joining portion that receives the mounting portion inserted thereto, or is inserted to the mounting portion. The cushion is arranged between the mounting portion and the joining portion, and fixed to each of the mounting portion and the joining portion. In a case where one of the mounting portion and the joining portion is a first portion and the other is a second portion, the first portion includes a peripheral wall and an opening portion without the peripheral wall formed therein. A fixing portion in which the second portion and the cushion are fixed to each other is at least partly arranged at a position adjacent to the opening portion along a radial direction of the mounting portion.
EXHAUST SILENCING DEVICE AND SYSTEM, VEHICLE, AND EXHAUST SILENCING METHOD
An exhaust silencing device and system, a vehicle, and an exhaust silencing method. The exhaust silencing device comprises an air intake pipe (1), a main exhaust silencing cylinder (2), a main exhaust pipe (3), a multi-way valve (6), at least one auxiliary exhaust silencing device (4), and at least one auxiliary exhaust pipe (5); the multi-way valve (6) is in communication with the air intake pipe (1), the main exhaust pipe (3), and the auxiliary exhaust pipe (5); the main exhaust silencing cylinder (2) has one end in communication with the multi-way valve (6) by means of the main exhaust pipe (3), and another end in communication with the outside; and the auxiliary exhaust silencing device (4) has one end in communication with the multi-way valve (6) by means of the auxiliary exhaust pipe (5), and another end in communication with the outside.
Marine drives and idle relief exhaust systems for marine drives
A marine drive is configured to propel a marine vessel in a body of water. The marine drive has an engine; a primary exhaust conduit receiving exhaust gases from the engine and discharging the exhaust gases to a primary exhaust outlet discharging the exhaust gases to the body of water; an idle relief exhaust outlet discharging exhaust gases to atmosphere, above the body of water; a primary idle relief muffler receiving exhaust gases from the primary exhaust conduit; a secondary idle relief muffler receiving exhaust gases from the primary idle relief muffler; and a tertiary idle relief muffler configured to receive exhaust gases from the secondary idle relief muffler and discharges exhaust gases to atmosphere via the idle relief exhaust outlet.
Exhaust system
Exhaust systems for a vehicle are provided. In one example, an exhaust system includes a muffler, a first exhaust outlet pipe fluidly coupled to a first outlet of the muffler, a second exhaust outlet pipe fluidly coupled to a second outlet of the muffler, a bypass duct fluidly coupled to a third outlet of the muffler, and a combined X-Y shaped intersection at which the first exhaust outlet pipe, the second exhaust outlet pipe, and the bypass duct are fluidly coupled to each other.
Muffler for vehicle
A muffler for a vehicle includes: a muffler shell; a baffle disposed within the muffler shell, and having a first opening and a second opening which allow an exhaust gas to pass therethrough; and a variable valve mounted on the baffle. In particular, the variable valve includes: a valve plate rotatably mounted to open and close the first opening of the baffle; a valve arm connected to the valve plate; and a valve actuator to move the valve arm by variations in pressure of the exhaust gas. The valve plate is capable of rotating in a plane parallel to a plane of the baffle.
EXHAUST SYSTEM TUNER TUBE TO REDUCE STANDING WAVE
A muffler assembly for an exhaust system is in fluid communication with a collector via an exhaust conduit. The muffler assembly includes a primary pipe, a valve, a secondary pipe, a tuner tube and a bleed port. The primary pipe extends through an enclosed volume of the muffler. The valve is operable to restrict flow through the primary pipe. When a standing wave is present, a resonance length is defined by a length of the exhaust system that extends from the collector to the valve. The tuner tube includes an open tuner tube end in fluid communication with the primary pipe and a closed tuner tube end. The tuner tube has a tuner tube length that is substantially one-quarter of the resonance length. The bleed port is formed in the primary pipe, allowing fluid communication with the enclosed volume, and positioned downstream from open tuner tube end.
Methods and systems for an exhaust muffler system
Methods and systems are provided for an exhaust muffler system with multiple inlets of different diameters. In one example, the muffler system may include multiple sets of inlet pipes to a muffler with each set of inlet pipes including pipes of different diameters with valves controlling exhaust flow into the inlet pipes. Exhaust from an engine bank may flow to a distinct set of inlet pipes and a distinct outlet pipe of the muffler via a separate exhaust passage.
MUFFLER VALVE AND MUFFLER
Provided is a muffler valve 1 that opens and closes an exhaust passage according to a pressure of an exhaust gas of an engine. A valve body 3 is swingably supported by a support shaft 4 with respect to a valve seat 2 having an opening 22, the valve body 3 is urged in a closing direction by a coil spring 5 externally inserted on the support shaft 4, a valve seat hook portion 23 is provided so as to embrace both ends of the support shaft 4 in a circumferential direction and is fixed to the support shaft 4, and a valve body winding portion 34 is provided so as to embrace the coil spring 5 in the circumferential direction from a direction opposite to the valve seat hook portion 23 and embrace the coil spring 5 over an entire length of the coil spring 5 in the circumferential direction. It is possible to prevent or suppress axial misalignment of the coil spring coaxially externally inserted on the support shaft for opening and closing the valve body as much as possible, and appropriately control the opening and closing of the valve body with high stability.
