Cylinder head with integrated turbocharger

A cylinder head assembly for an internal combustion engine includes a cast cylinder head and a turbocharger housing integrally cast with the cylinder head and having an integrally cast wastegate housing. The turbocharger housing is configured to receive a turbocharger cartridge rotatably supporting a shaft coupled between a compressor wheel and a turbine wheel. The integrally cast wastegate housing defines a wastegate chamber configured to receive a wastegate valve, a flow of exhaust gas from the turbine wheel, and a flow of wastegate exhaust gas.

Systems are provided for an integrated exhaust manifold that may be used in a variety of engine systems. In one example, an integrated exhaust manifold may include a central axis running from an inlet end to an outlet end of the integrated exhaust manifold and two exhaust outlets arranged at the outlet end and coupled to a common collecting line, the two exhaust outlets symmetrically positioned across the central axis and having a same diameter, where each exhaust outlet of the two exhaust outlets has a passage axis arranged parallel to the central axis. A first exhaust outlet of the two exhaust outlets may be permanently blocked and a second exhaust outlet of the two exhaust outlets may be coupled to an exhaust system of an engine system.

OPEN EXHAUST CHAMBER CONSTRUCTIONS FOR OPPOSED-PISTON ENGINES

A configuration for a uniflow-scavenged, opposed-piston engine reduces exhaust cross-talk caused by mass flow between cylinders resulting from one cylinder having an open exhaust port during scavenging and/or charging while an adjacent cylinder is undergoing blowdown. Some configurations include a wall or other barrier feature between cylinders that are adjacent to each other and fire one after the other. Additionally, or alternatively, some engine configurations include cylinders with intake and exhaust ports sized so that there is an overlap in crank angle of two or more cylinders having open exhaust ports of about 65 crank angle degrees or less.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD HAVING TURBINE CONNECTOR WITH TURBINE FOOT

A turbine connector in an engine exhaust manifold includes a turbine foot attached to incoming exhaust conduits. The turbine foot has an outer perimetric edge defining a trapezoidal shape, and inner perimetric edges forming exhaust outlets from the incoming exhaust conduits. The inner perimetric edges have varied perimetric curvatures largest in finite curvature size upon a web extending between the exhaust outlets, and together forming an hourglass web profile in a turbine-mounting plane defined by the turbine foot.

An engine device including an exhaust manifold provided on an exhaust side surface of a cylinder head, and an exhaust pressure sensor configured to detect an exhaust gas pressure in the exhaust manifold. The exhaust pressure sensor is attached to the cylinder head. The exhaust pressure sensor is connected to the exhaust manifold through an exhaust pressure bypass path provided in the cylinder head and an exhaust pressure detection pipe connecting the exhaust pressure bypass path to the exhaust manifold. A cooling water passage is provided nearby the exhaust pressure bypass path, in the cylinder head.

INTEGRATED EXHAUST MANIFOLD COOLING JACKET

Systems for an integrated exhaust manifold cylinder head are provided. In one example, an exhaust manifold for a vehicle includes a plurality of exhaust runners coupling a plurality of cylinder exhaust gas outlet ports to an exhaust exit port, the plurality of exhaust runners forming at least a first exhaust passage and a second exhaust passage at the exhaust exit port; an upper cooling jacket positioned vertically above the first exhaust passage; a lower cooling jacket positioned vertically below the second exhaust passage; and a central cooling jacket positioned vertically below the first exhaust passage and vertically above the second passage.
