A noise reduction apparatus includes a housing, a first baffle component, and a second baffle component. The housing includes a first installation chamber configured to contain diesel generating equipment, and the first installation chamber has a top plate, a bottom plate, and a first side plate, and a second side plate that is disposed opposite the first installation chamber from the first side plate. An air intake vent is disposed on the first side plate, and an air exhaust vent is disposed on the second side plate. A first serpentine channel is formed in the first baffle component, and one end of the first serpentine channel is connected to the air intake vent. A second serpentine channel is formed in the second baffle component, and one end of the second serpentine channel is connected to the air exhaust vent.

The wall includes a core layer having a surface and a first layer disposed on a portion of the surface. The portion is less than 100 percent of an area of the surface. The core layer has a first composition. The first layer is a cold-sprayed layer. The core layer has a second composition different from the first composition. The first layer reduces surface-radiated noise from the exhaust component during operation of the motor vehicle. The internal volume is at least partially defined by the wall. The inlet is in fluid communication with the internal volume. The outlet is in fluid communication with the internal volume.

Method and system for filling a muffler with fibrous material. The muffler includes a muffler shell comprising a first shell member and a second shell member, at least one partition extending between the first and second shell members, and at least one slot formed in the first shell member above the partition. The first shell member is positioned and held relative to the second shell member to form an open portion, a closed portion, and a space between an upper surface of the partition and the first shell member. Fluid is introduced into the space through a fluid delivery device inserted into the muffler shell through the slot, and fibrous material is introduced into the muffler shell through a filling nozzle inserted into the muffler shell through the open portion. The fluid delivery device and nozzle are removed after filling and the shell members are closed and affixed.
