Engine exhaust temperature control
Methods and systems for improving operation of an engine at higher speeds and loads are disclosed. In one example, fuel may be injected to an exhaust system of the engine so that temperatures of exhaust system components may be reduced when the engine is operated at higher speeds and loads.
System and method for treating process exhaust gas
A system and method for treating turbine exhaust gas includes an industrial process turbine exhaust gas discharge structure, a catalytic turbine exhaust gas treatment device positioned at least partially within the industrial process turbine exhaust gas discharge structure, a pump, and at least two heat exchangers. The catalytic turbine exhaust gas treatment device is positioned at least partially within the industrial process turbine exhaust gas discharge structure. A first heat exchanger is positioned at least partially within the industrial process turbine exhaust gas discharge section structure and upstream of the catalytic turbine exhaust gas treatment device to remove heat from an the turbine exhaust gas by transferring heat to a working fluid. A second heat exchanger removes heat from the working fluid gained at the first heat exchanger. The pump drives the working fluid between the first and second heat exchanger.
Process to capture SO.SUB.x .onboard vehicles and ships
Provided is a process that may comprise cooling an engine exhaust emissions comprising SO.sub.x on a vehicle that may come from an engine. The cooled engine exhaust emissions comprising SO.sub.x may be passed to one or more absorption units. The SO.sub.x may be extracted from the engine exhaust emissions with a sorbent supported on solid porous media in an absorption unit on the vehicle to form an absorbed SO.sub.x. The absorbed SO.sub.x may be desorbed, followed by forming one or more SO.sub.x product from the desorbed SO.sub.x. The one or more SO.sub.x product may be unloaded to an off-vehicle facility.
EXHAUST MUFFLER, TWO-STROKE ENGINE OR FOUR-STROKE ENGINE HAVING AN EXHAUST MUFFLER, AND CATALYTIC CONVERTER FOR AN EXHAUST MUFFLER
An exhaust muffler has an exhaust inlet, an exhaust outlet, as well as a catalytic converter which, in the flow direction, is disposed between the exhaust inlet and the exhaust outlet. The catalytic converter has at least one throughflow body which includes at least one wire body. At least one first component region of the throughflow body is coated with a catalytically functioning coating. The throughflow body moreover has a second component region which in terms of volume has a smaller quantity of catalytically functioning coating than the first component region.
CYLINDER HEAD WITH INTEGRATED CATALYST
A cylinder head assembly for an internal combustion engine is provided. In one example implementation, the cylinder head assembly includes a cylinder head, a bypass passage formed within the cylinder head and defining a catalyst cavity, and a bypass catalytic converter disposed within the catalyst cavity, where the bypass catalytic converter is configured to provide emissions reduction during cold start, long idle, and/or low main catalytic converter temperature conditions.
PROCESS TO CAPTURE SOx ONBOARD VEHICLES AND SHIPS
Provided is a process that may comprise cooling an engine exhaust emissions comprising SO.sub.x on a vehicle that may come from an engine. The cooled engine exhaust emissions comprising SO.sub.x may be passed to one or more absorption units. The SO.sub.x may be extracted from the engine exhaust emissions with a sorbent supported on solid porous media in an absorption unit on the vehicle to form an absorbed SO.sub.x. DEVICE AND METHOD FOR COOLING AN EXHAUST GAS AFTER TREATMENT APPARATUS
The present disclosure relates to a method and a device (10) for cooling an exhaust-gas after-treatment apparatus (12). The device (10) has a coolant circuit (16) with a cooling region (18) for heat transfer with the exhaust-gas aftertreatment apparatus (12) and has at least one backflow preventer (20, 22). The at least one backflow preventer (20, 22) is arranged upstream and/or downstream of the cooling region (18) and is configured and/or oriented such that, in the event of a change in volume of the coolant in the cooling region (18) and in a section of the coolant circuit (16) between the cooling region (18) and the at least one backflow preventer (20, 22), said at least one backflow preventer (20, 22) opens, which takes place below a boiling point of the coolant. A natural circulation of the coolant in the coolant circuit (16) below the boiling point of the coolant can thus preferably be provided.
Catalytic converter for treating exhaust gases
The invention relates to a catalytic converter for treating exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine, having a housing through which an exhaust gas may flow and which has an inflow side and an outflow side, wherein, in the housing, there is formed a plurality of flow channels (4, 13) which is flowed through along a main throughflow direction from the inflow side to the outflow side, wherein, in the housing, there is arranged at least one pipeline (5, 12) which is flowed through by a fluid which is independent of the exhaust gas that is caused to flow through the flow channels (4, 13).
EXHAUST GAS PURIFICATION STRUCTURE AND OUTBOARD MOTOR
An exhaust gas purification structure of an outboard motor includes an exhaust gas pipe that has an exhaust gas passage through which exhaust gas of an engine can flow; and a catalyst that is provided in the exhaust gas passage and purifies the exhaust gas by allowing the exhaust gas to pass through the inside thereof. The exhaust gas pipe includes a coolant flow passage allowing a coolant that cools the exhaust gas to flow therethrough. An exhaust gas bypass passage allowing the exhaust gas to flow without passing through the catalyst is formed between the catalyst and an inner surface of the exhaust gas pipe forming the exhaust gas passage.
